Full Version: SF Giants Trades

My poor injury riddled Giants (Bonds, Santiago, Shinjo, Benard, Sanders) have recently strengthened the outfield and hitting potential with the addition of Kenny Lofton. If he can avoid injury, it should be a great trade for two minor leaguers.

Most recent rumor is that the Giants are trying to trade Livan Hernandez to the Mets for, are you ready?, SHAWN ESTES!

MY GOD, they just got rid of that head case. The instant Shawn throws a few bad pitches, it's a quick downward spiral from which he never recovers. Although I would love to see him back out on the mound here (he's very easy on the eyes), I think the Giants would quickly regret this trade.

Personally, I would love to see them get a quality 1st baseman who can actually hit. Snow and Minor just aren't cutting it. But they have one day to pull things off.

I agree with you completely on Shawn Estes - good stuff, no clue on how to pitch, not mentally tough, and easy on the eyes. If the Giants want a lefty, surely there must be other candidates than Estes.
J.T. Snow has been in a two season long batting slump although he's still cute. It's time the Giants tried out Damon Minor fulltime to see if he can hit consistently with power.

Estes has pitched well in his last 2 starts, but I'm not confident about that continuing... Some NY papers have Jeff D'Amico in that swap, not Estes.

The Giants just have a weird, unproductive lineup, Bonds and Kent aside. Attempting to pass Shinjo off as a regular is proof Dusty isn't a genius. Lofton will help, but may not be enough.

You're right. I read that also, but just couldn't get over the shock they were actually considering Estes!

I don't know a lot about D'Amico. Can someone comment on his potential with the Giants?
