The boxer Leavander Johnson died yesterday at the University Medical Center in Las Vegas, five days after sustaining a severe brain injury during a match against Jesus Chavez.

Johnson, 35, was the second boxer in the last two and a half months to die of a subdural hemotoma, or severe bleeding of the brain, resulting from injuries sustained during a fight in Las Vegas. He leaves four children.

Leavander Johnson was an experienced boxer, a true athlete, and a pleasure to watch.
