Tampa Bay coaches Lee Elia & John McLaren were ejected from the Devil Rays' game against the Oakland Athletics on Sunday after arguing a call by tossing candy and gum onto the field at Network Associates Coliseum. In the 5th inning Oakland catcher Ramon Hernandez appeared to seing at a pitch, but first-base umpire Joe Brinkman ruled Hernandwz had not swung, giving him a walk.

Moments later, a blue tray holding candy, gum, and sunflower seeds was kicked or tossed from the Devil Rays' dugout, scattering the contents in the dirt. Third-base umpire Derryl Cousins initially ejected Lou Pinella, but after Pinella protested his innocence, the umpires ejected Elia and McLaren.

I wonder what Ump's take on that is. I saw it on Baseball Tonight yesterday. Kinda hilarious.

Actually, I have images of the Springfield Isotopes' manager having a meltdown, throwing candy & gum from the dugout and Homer & Barney diving onto the field to get it!
