Not a surprise, but I think it's the first time she publically aknowledged it

Andrea, it has been pretty well known here about Stubbsie for years. She really is a fun woman.

Wait for news about Samantha Stosur too!! She is coached by Gigi Fernandez, managed by Jane Geddes and is the doubles partner of Lisa Raymond.Apparently, Lisa and Sam are girlfriends as well............but I am not one to gossip.

The article says: "Stubbs travels with her girlfriend of two years, a former US professional softballer, having shared a long-term relationship with her former doubles partner, Lisa Raymond." So is Lisa Raymond being outed?

i think it was great for her to do it and yeah, no doubt about Stosur!

It's been an open secret for years.

Great article, really illustrates her personality, even if she exaggerated Molik's role in tennis by comparing her now absence to Monica's of the 90s. And it's interesting that we here in the States know nothing of her controversial statements, like about Hingis or Goolagong.

I like what she says about coming out for others in the hopes of making it easier for them, even if she did it so late in life. And in so many ways I think to just live your life like an open book and not make an issue of your sexuality is commendable--and I think that's what a lot of female tennis players do. Now if only the men could do that--just have their boyfriends in tow and go about like not giving a f**k about what others say.

thanks andrea for the artilc.e

It was a pleasure. smile.gif
I think she came across well from the article.
Could some of the Australian posters here report us some of her "best" controversial comments?

Great article, thanks for sharing - I hadn't seen it til now smile.gif

And just for correctness, to answer Shore above - Stubbs' was saying; "This is as big a loss to Australian tennis as what Monica Seles was to women's tennis in general in the '90s"; rather than saying that losing Molik was as great a blow to world tennis as losing Seles.

Sorry for being nitpicky - I read it wrongly too the first time and thought "wow... that's a big comparison" but given the scaling down to Aussie tennis only, I think it's pretty fair cop... Alicia seemed a good bet to make steps up to real slam-contender territory, something which the other Aussie girls are currently missing.

Anyway, apologies for my rambling smile.gif

Andrea, Just read your post of January 7, must of missed it earlier.

I have a couple of dyke friends, up in Sydney, who follow the womens tour around the world and they have collected many of Stubbsie's controversial quotes. Stubbs is hysterical but most of her quotes, about other players and officials, are not politically correct and would mortify some of the police here. When I get back to Sydney I would be happy to send them to you privately, if that suits.

Melbourne.

xanthos, don't do that to us! We can handle it. smile.gif
