Hewitt is going to play in a charity rugby match (yeh, Lleyton Hewitt!...playing rugby...RUGBY!)

The problem is, the charity match occurs the same time as Australia's Davis Cup tie with India.

Am I the only one who kinda hopes India picks up the win, and that, well, it's kinda Lleyton's fault Aus. doesn't advance?

Let's get the facts straight. Hewitt is going to play in a charity AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL match only if the Aussies have clinched the meeting with India. IF it is a live tie, he WILL PLAY the Davis Cup match.

Australian rules football is very different from rugby. Hewitt's speed and spry size make him an ideal on baller. I just hope he doesn't get hurt as it's a pretty rough game. Maybe they'll tone down the hits since it's a charity game? You can play 'touch' without tackles, but it's a little whimpy.

His Davis Cup coach and teammates have already said they are fine with him missing the singles match if they have already won.

Jeez, curtj, you really drained the drama out of that potential controversy (this typed with a wink and a smile)...

I just can't get behind this Hewitt character.

oh god, that is a pretty awful image... it is interesting how unpopular he is with the australian press. i wonder what they'll have to say about it.

The Aussie media doesn't like him because they think he's arrogant and obnoxious. It doesn't help that he follows in Pat Rafter's footsteps. Hewitt, in response, hates the way the media treats him, so he continues the feud by not having any contact with them.

Serena, Venus, and Oracene looked lovely at the Champions Ball. Serena looks especially elegant. So did Kim Clijsters.

On edit: To his credit, Hewitt has never shirked Davis Cup duty. It's very important to him, which the Aussie media should not overlook.

I wish our sports media came down harsher on certain champions who thought the Cup was unimportant.

I'm mystified as to why that photo would make anyone dislike Hewitt more, but then again I don't understand why so many folks seem turned off by him. I think he's kind cute myself.

Anyone know if Lleyton Hewitt is related to the great doubles player, Bob Hewitt, of Bob Hewitt/Frew McMillan, from the 70's? Wasn't he an Aussie? Or were they South African?
