I'm not sure I understand this. It'll be great to see The Real Martina, but I would think Wimbledon would be a better place for her to try this.......

I suspect she's playing here to get her Grand Slam jitters out. She'll play singles at Eastbourne or Birmingham, I'm sure, and somewhere during all the (deserved) hype, she'll get a wild card to Wimbledon. If she wins even just a single match at the French Open, there is no way the Wimbledon organizers can say "No" to wild card request...

A lot will depend on the draw. But good for Martina. How insane would it be to have Navratilova vs. Serena or Amelie in the first round? Talk about drama.

God bless her, but i'm not holding my breath for her to win a singles match at a slam, especially on red clay. I'm curious to see how she'll do in a Wibledon match though against a mid ranked player.

I agree with all. I also wonder if she's realized that splitting with Sveta was a huge mistake, and since there's no guarantee of making it out of the first round of dubs with Raymond, why not play singles too.
I hope the Divine Miss N didn't bother packing more than one outfit for Paris. She'll be out the first round.
