Saw that Thomas Enqvist d. James Blake at the World Team Cup; Enqvist apparently saved a match point (damn it James!, you've got to start winning these matches!). Reading the score, I wondered why Blake was playing, and not Andy Roddick... Is Andy injured?!

Haas has already withdrawn, or at least taken a few days off, from the World Team Cup with an injured shoulder. Venus, as we know, is also questionable, and Thomas Johansson has just come off a break injury break and is in a dogfight with Sampras as I type this message.

Anna K. is indicating she was playing through injury in her Strasbourg loss.

On a more positive tip, Monica Seles and Chanda Rubin are playing very well, after being laid off a few weeks from injuries. Monica will place Anna Smashnova in the quarters; Chanda is already through to the semi's thanks to a 6-3, 6-3 defeat of Magui Serna. Way to go Chanda!!!

Roddick has some wrist and knee problems, according to www.frenchopen.com." target="_blank">www.frechopen.comwww.frenchopen.com. He just prefered to let Blake have a shot. Honestly, this world team tournament has to be the least important of any tournament in tennis. I don't get it. It's not Davis Cup, it's ... what??

Anyway, YAY CHANDA RUBIN! Man, I'd love for her to beat Zuluaga tomorrow and make it to the finals of, what, her third tournament back from injury? Beating both Serna and Arantxa, not to mention Neffa de los Rios, clay courters all! I hope she doesn't get too warn out before Roland Garros, but I can picture her with a decent draw getting to the fourth round or so, boosting her back up to ratings respectability and a possible ranking by Wimbledon (she's already guaranteed a Top 50 spot by next week)....

Hey, speaking of injured players, does anyone know anything about Alexandra Stevenson's health? She's the #28 seed at RG and it's not outside the realm of possibilities that with a few French wins she could make a Top 16 ranking at Wimbledon, where she's indubitably on her best surface.

ESPN has written on this topic, too. Their article references Goran, Martina, Venus, Anna, Guga, and Mary Pierce.

I'm absolutely amazed at how well Chanda's playing after such a long layoff. I actually thought she'd retired! She might be able to make it as far as the 4th round at the French, too. Schett and Kremer are decent, but not insurmountable obstacles.

Yea, the injured list continues....Davenport (maybe back from surgery for Wimby), Hingis (out with ankle injury/surgery), Rios (knee injury lagging...YEA HOO), Ivanisevic (shoulder surgery), Kracjeck (STILL injured), Haas (Shoulder Injury )

Nice to see a flare of old vs. new in this Roland Garros! Old Gaurd vs. The New Ranks! Stuff like...Agassi playing Federer, Pierce playing Henin, Sampras playing Blake, and Seles playing Hantuchova. This much depth makes the tennis fun, not to mention the clay evening out everyone's game. Love the men's serve being brought down to size!

Love to see Roger Federer or Agassi in Mens Final. Great to see Seles(possibly her last Roland Garros) or one of the Williams' in the final too.

Add Safin to the questionable list. He injured his back at the World Team Cup in Germany and had to withdraw his last match. ESPN.com is reporting his status as doubtful.
