The weird story is here

I wonder if Ulihrach will sue.

No sooner wondered than answered. I can't say I blame him.

it certainly makes you wonder about coria and even back to korda. the atp's credibility is shot. they should reinstate everybody and start over. i don't believe tennis is a sport rife with performance-enhancing drugs. and i don't agree with tennis jumping on the anti-doping bandwagon and in the process denying due process to professional players who, after all, are adults (mostly). any drug use not tied to performance-enchancing should be ignored.

What I'm amazed by is that the ATP thinks they've made restitution by just giving back the points deducted and the money. Hello? You banned him from playing for two months, so he lost money he would have made from tournaments and some of his ranking points fell off the computer from last year. That affects his seeding for all tournaments for the next year, making it harder for him to make money subsequently.

I hope he sues the hell out of them. Not only is this financial but his reputation was also hurt by the false accusations....

From tennisnews.com:

QUOTE
In an interesting footnote, Bohdan Ulihrach made his return to tennis at Amersfoort. It's interesting to see how the ATP handled this. Ulihrach, at the time of his suspension, was ranked in the mid-seventies, which would easily have gotten him into the main draw here. It would probably have gotten him seeded.

But, of course, the ATP suspended him, so he hasn't earned any points since last fall, so his current ranking wasn't good enough to get him direct entry. He had to play qualifying -- and (not surprisingly after a layoff of almost nine months) lost in the first round. Logically, it would appear that a suspension levied under false pretences would earn the suspended player an injury ranking (or a false suspension ranking, if you prefer) -- but obviously it isn't so.
Maybe there's something we don't know - like he actually WAS doping it up, but the ATP couldn't completely 100% prove it. Otherwise, he's getting the royal bitch slap. This, more than anything else, will affect my support of the players union. It's shameful.
