Oh My GOd!!! The Brewers have won FOUR games in a row!!!!! Way to go on firing Davey Lopez. Should of done that earlier. The pitching has improved and the Bats are SWINGING!!!! I think they were playing tight under Lopez. GO BREW CREW!!!

With all due respect, nothing in baseball would bring me greater pleasure than to see a basement finish by the home team of Commissioner Bud Selig (a.k.a., People's "the Ugliest Man Alive" 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, and, in all likelihood 2002).

Nothing.

Not a pennant by the Minnesota Twins or the Montreal Expos.

Not a failure by the Yankees or the Braves to even make the play-offs.

Not even a midseason trade of Scottie Rolen to America's St. Louis Cardinals sparking a pennant win. (And I love the Cardinals.)

Nothing.

I loathe Commissioner Bud and that has now extended to the team that he ... errrrr, his daughter Wendy, controls.

Wow, more than a bit irrational. You're projecting your hatred for Bud onto the Brewers?!?! Would a last place finish for them REALLY make you that happy? Sounds to me like you have some issues to resolve . . .

Easy there, Dr. Freud ...

This is a rather tiresome practice on this board -- the armchair shrink. Three very good friends of mine have PhDs in psychology, and one thing I notice about them is that they never make instant, on-the-spot psychological evaluations. So it baffles me that people think they have a leg to stand on when making their psych evaluations based on a couple of paragraphs posted on an Internet message board.

Stuff like "sounds like you have issues to resolve" or the comments in another thread that Brendon Lemon critics "are clearly full of self-loathing" are nothing but gussied-up personal attacks. Come on, be honest -- "sounds like you have issues to resolve" just pop-psych-speak for "you are really f**ked up, pallie". Dress it up all you like, but a personal attack is a personal attack. Can we just cut the shit out???

Bud owns them. Bud controls them. (I don't believe for one minute that daughter Wendy Selig-Prieb is actually calling the shots.)

If contraction happens, and if the Brewers continue to stink, there'd be no chance that Gopher State baseball fans would become Brewer fans, once Bud contracts away the Twins, which would confound Bud's marketing plan. (Of course, I'd like to think that folks in the Twin Cities are smart enough to realize that Bud is behind the elimination of the Twins and they would choose to punish the Brewers rather than become fans. I hope this isn't put to the test.)

Bud Selig is destroying the game of baseball and if a voting majority of the ownership finally realizes that Bud can't even properly run one franchise (9 straight losing seasons, looking for #10!), maybe they'll stop listening to his opinion on how to run the entire 30-team operation. The fact that the Brewers were the most profitable team in baseball in 2001, the first year of Miller Park, doesn't help this convincing process.

Disagree with me, if you will, but my opinion is not "irrational." So, to answer your question, a last place finish for Bud's team would, in fact, bring some additional happiness to my life.

And another thing ...

If I had said I wanted to see the Yankees lose because I hate George Steinbrenner, or that I wanted to see the Dallas Cowboys lose because I cannot stand both Jerry Jones's old and his new faces, would you have engaged in the same bit of amateur psycho-analysis?

Who would want Twins fans to go for the Brewers anyhow. They can cheer for the Cubs or Royals! :-)

I was at Shea for the Mets' 2nd straight near-0-hitter over the Brewers (Astacio, 6-1/3).
All I can say is, things are looking bad for a team that even occasionally starts that old hacker Lenny Harris at 1B! And the Milwaukee defense blew the game yesterday.

I was gettin all drooly over that Estes-Rusch duel the night before... as Maggie Smith said in Gosford Park, "yummy yummy yummy."

Bill W., I was there too!! Up in the Mezzanine level closer to the 8-car fire in the parking lot!! Could've used the fire in my section...too chilly!
