Not only is he cute, not only is he athletic, not only does he have an impish sense of humor (as evidenced by the "Eric Byrnes Baby Powder" pic which is now on my desktop), but Barry also has a good heart.

He established "Strikeouts For Troops" where he will give money to injured soldiers everytime he strikes out a batter. He is encouraging other pitchers to do the same.

Hopefully, more young aspiring baseball players will emulate folks like Barry instead of some of the other players currently in the news for alleged and questionable activities.

I think Barry Zito is just the coolest. No matter your position on our involvement in Iraq, you've gotta admire what he's doing in donating money to injured soldiers.

And, he's very accomodating for autographs. I got a ball signed (watch it now)last year. And he took his time to chat with EVERYONE waiting (and this was before a game).
