Here is your chance to tell it like it is.

The seventh edition of the Subway Series begins on Friday at Shea Stadium!

Tell us which team you think will prevail.

First I thought it was pouring at the stadium - then I realized it must have been the tears from all those Mets fans - biggrin.gif

How does a manager, any manager, allow a pitcher to walk 4 straight batters to allow the tying run to walk home? That's just dumb, lazy and stubborn.

I agree George. That is just plain ludicrous. Now I'm a Yankee fan, but I prefer to see them win on their own rather than see a team just give up and hand them the game. When you walk in the winning run, you are just giving up. You're saying to your opponent I'll give you this game and regroup and get you next time. Please. The Yanks are too good they don't need your charity.

Now do you see why the Mets (despite their huge payroll) are in the cellar?

I agree -- it's because that pitcher is their closer, and they live and die with him... lazily, stubbornly, stupidly. If you read "Moneyball" you'll see just what a conventional "thinker" Art Howe is (of course, he has plenty of company in the managerial ranks).

No Ung, *why* does that one game show why the Mets are in the cellar? Are you referring to all the bullpen injuries the Mets have had? Benitez hadn't blown a save since April. I loooove how people extrapolate from one game -- you could work on "Baseball Tonight" with that approach.
ung
I could??? Well thanks sweetie tongue.gif

By the way, I wasn't extrapolating from just one game. There is a reason why the Mets are FOURTEEN games behind in the NL east. It's called bad decisions. Decisons by GMs, managers, players. There's plenty of it to go around in th Mets organization. And wee I to go full time into the baseball biz, I would not be doing it on the broadcast side. hint hint.

Honey... smile.gif

You get no argument from me on the Mets' general level of organizational cluelessness, from the Dearly Departed Steve P on down. However, leaving the Closer in no matter what -- almost every team does it.

If the Mets had signed a bunch of over-the-hill ex-All-Stars during last night's game, I could understand yer "you-sees" more.
