Michael Chang's new book is called "Holding Serve."
No dirt, but an inspirational work by an inspiring player.

I just received my new "Inside Tennis" and there's a review of Chang's book. Honestly, his religious views seem stifling to both his career and his world-view. He's still a virgin, he still calls his mother mommy (which is cute, I guess), and he still believes that his winning tennis matches was part of god's plan. I respect anyone's right to their religious views but when does it become just so far out there? He's done his bit for the sport and he's certainly a great inspiration for many, but I somehow don't think that God is overly concerned with who wins tennis matches.

that was always my problem with Michael Chang too. If it was God's plan that Chang win a match, is it God's plan that Chang's opponent loses? I always found that aspect of MC's religious ferver a mite offensive. I know it always made root for Chang's opponent, pretty much regardless of who was on the other side of the net.

Of all the American men that came about during the late 80's, early 90's Chang was by far my least favorite! That book has to be totally BORING!!! Plus how can the French cheer him for serving under-handed but boo Hingis? Yeah Hingis did it out of anger, and to show disrespect, and Chang did it cuz he was "so tired" Point is they both did it, and it proves Martina is the better athlete! I can't wait for the US OPEN cuz I think Hingis will win it all!

In fairness, Michael Chang has always given thanks for the God-given talent he's been blessed with.) Chang's book (and his many statements over the years) shows that he simply accept God's plan for him - win or lose. I don't think he's ever prayed to beat another player.
God surely DOESN'T care who wins a tennis tournament - and I believe nobody is more aware of that than Michael Chang. His praise to God is one of thanks for his many blessings.
Faith should not necessarily be viewed as a negative trait.

AAAACK! Isn't he like 35 or older now? For cryin' out loud, Michael, get married first if you must, but go out there and have some sex!
