"Fish sweep Giants. Barry gets walked, Giants fans whine, what else is new?"
What are you thinking?
Are you one of those ignorant fans who never changes their opinion once their mind is set????
What do you think the Giants have been doing all offseason?
-Building a team to go through October
I think they've accepted that most of the time (especially if the situation is important) Bonds is just a free base. They've obtained Alou, Vizquel, they still have Cruz and Feliz and Grissom. Snow hit great last year; Alfonzo could find his touch. They have a great mixture of defensive players and offensive players.
Their starting rotation is good, they're bullpen is improved, they have found a closer...
Bottom line- The Giants have a balanced team with lots of wisdom and experience. They have hitting to back up Bonds, good fielders to help out defensively, starters who will get the job done, the bullpen to hold down other teams, and the closer to ensure victories.
So if and when they do walk Bonds, I'm sure fans will cheer up when the Giants make them pay for it. And if the Giants aren't hitting well, they have plenty of good pitching.
p.s. I hope you're going to one of the games when the Giants come to the Dome, June 14th through 16th. Maybe that will change you're mind.
