The resemblance is striking, don't you think?

LOL...I always thought Kim Clijsters looked like Fiona from Shrek. I have said that for awhile now. Still...I like her though. She is one of the most gracious and nicest girls in the game.

she definitely is a very nice girl. A little simple and naive, maybe, but one of the nicest girls on tour.

Relax! It was meant in good fun. I just found the resemblance uncanny and posted it. I actually think that Kim is a lovely girl.
I did not know this forum had space problems?

fearsome...I see that you are relatively new so let me give you the lowdown on certain things about the message boards here. Some people take things sensitively and sometimes make a bigger issue out of something than it really is. I have found that out myself and been chastised about the content of my posts. Now...I don't care cuz I'm gonna say what I'm gonna say and we are not on the elementary school playground so if there is a problem with what I have to say and I'm called out on it than I respond and try to resolve it. I frequently post on AOL and ESPN message boards and let me tell you...the brutality of the posts on those 2 sites make what is said on here seem like child's play.
So...welcome and you'll find out for yourself who takes things in whatever kind of way and choose to deal with it however you want. I mean like I said...I have thought there was a resemblence between Kim and Fiona for awhile now. But I love Kim and love how much class she exhibits on and off the court. People make fun of Serena's weight and talk about her being lazy and make jokes about her eating habits and trips to fast food joints but most don't seem to have a problem with that. So I mean..it is what it is. Sometimes you just have to pick your battles.
Oh and NO...there is no space problem here. Whatever topic you want to bring up that is related to tennis or a player..by all means...I usually have a response for most of the topics brought up here no matter how serious or not serious they are. Sometimes its nice to just have that ha ha funny post.

Classic. This coming from the guy who's always saying everyone here is "way too sensitive"... whether it's about Hingis's homophobic or racist comments, or Murray's "we played like girls" statement...and how we should all just lighten about those things.
And yet, this is a mean spirited thread.
Good comedy.

I do feel it is much ado about nothing. Lighten up, Bryan! I am sure some people found this funny and if you did not, well that is fine too.

I hold no grudges at all in pointing out your blatant hypocrisy, let's not try to invent them where they simply don't exist.
Face it, you got called on it, plain and simple. It's not about me. If you don't want it on display, don't tell everyone how "over-sensitive" they are, and then turn around and post like you did here.
Your exposed hypocrisy <> someone else's petty grudge.
Moving on...

Tennis Guy and Bryan: This is better suited for private messages. This board has been extremely civil of late and we are nipping this kind of stuff in the bud. Thanks!

Ooooh, now that's what I call hot talk! wink
My own opinion is that too many people simply lack the skills - or refuse to use them if they have them - to engage in vigorous debate. They don't understand that reasonable minds will differ - and strongly at times. They tend to personalize debate and thereby debase it. I try not to do so, but to the extent I may have (
cf. "have been
perceived as"), I apologize for doing so. On the other hand, responding in kind is fair play. The law of defamation even contains an exception for it, called the "fair comment doctrine." If someone starts it, there's no foul in replying likewise. The problems start when the exchange is unnecessarily escalated. The best way to deal with things like this is to use good judgment, which I think Jim & Cyd do, but a few others consistently do not. Those people are best ignored.

Well said, gmg. I think it's also important to point out that we've all evolved with this site specifically, learning to not just react but think about our reactions before spilling over. I'm glad Outsports is trying to keep it as civil as possible knowing that human nature is tough to rein in but worth the effort.
And personally, I try and let things go the best I can, but like everyone I'm still growing... If we can't let go of petty disagreements here (hello tguy!) , how can we hope that age old battles like the middle east can reach some peaceful accord?

I'll second all of that. The key is ignoring certain posts/posters, which is admittedly easier said that done. Luckily, there are very few that call for that treatment on the tennis boards -- which makes this a great place to hang out.

One of the best thing I read is that if you are inclined to want to flame someone, take your hands off the keyboard for 5 seconds and pause -- the urge can often go away!
I agree with Mike that one can have a vigorous debate w/o it getting personal (though some people do take criticism of their ideas personally, but that's another story!)

In the spirit of the holiday:
King Edward: Why, so: now have I done a good day's work.
You peers, continue this united league.
I every day expect an embassage
From my Redeemer to redeem me hence;
And more at peace my soul shall part to heaven,
Since I have made my friends at peace on earth.
Hastings and Rivers, take each other's hand;
Dissemble not your hatred, swear your love.
Rivers: By heaven, my soul is purged from grudging hate,
And with my hand I seal my true heart's love.
Hastings: So thrive I, as I truly swear the like!
King Edward: Take heed you dally not before your king,
Lest He that is the supreme King of kings
Confound your hidden falsehood and award
Either of you to be the other's end.
Hastings: So prosper I, as I swear perfect love!
Rivers: And I as I love Hastings with my heart!
- Richard III, II, 1.
