Well now the 2008 reference makes sense, as that's the next calendar year when a 12th game is allowed based on NCAA by-laws. UF isn't the only school talking about the importance of 7 home games in order to generate revenue necessary for running the program, so I give them a pass. This has become an NCAA mantra in recent years.
Playing on a neutral field might be a work-around if they split the gate and concessions evenly. Tampa hosted it once upon a time, and seems a natural fit. Don't know the capacity of Raymond James, however. Isn't it smaller than both UM's and UF's stadiums?
Sadly, however, it may become too difficult for the sides to come together in the future now that UM is finally playing in a tougher conference. I have a feeling that one side or the other will waffle about it based on the brutality of their conference schedules.

AU Tiger, here's a
brief history of the on-again and now off-again rivalry between the two schools.

So Florida dropped the Hurricanes in 1988 because it wanted to play a \"more national schedule,\" then promptly replaced them with Montana State.

And there's the five-in-a-row thing . . .

GatorJamie, I see that listed under the Favorite Teams part of your profile you have the following: "whoever is playing f$u". Does this mean you're going to be a stork-loving freak on Labor Day? I'm sure Dr. Shalala has a "I Love the Canes" polo shirt for you to wear.

Now
that is funny!
Dunno who I'm gonna be for. It would be nice if f$u was undefeated when we meet 'em in November, but I just can't bring myself to cheer for them. Those a$$holes cost me $400 the last time I cheered for them against teenysee in the Fiesta Bowl.
Plus, as bobby has pointed out, green is not my color. I'm a Winter. wink

Musings on the Virtual Swamp: if (big IF) the Gators win out and um loses a game or two more, possibility of a Gator-Cane matchup in the Peach Bowl...
Whaddya think of that, KWG?

Fair enough, KWG. All I'm sayin' is that if your guys sink that low, and if my guys manage to pull it out of their a**, it might make for a GJ/KWG party in Atlanta. Since we'll both be depressed (I woould not expect us to win), we can get Herr Tiggee to host the festivities.
Given his team's fortunes, it's the least he can do.

sorry GJ, but the girls on my team are easy on the eye but not very top heavy. They are athletes and work out with the trainer for the football team. I am surprised at how much a 5 foot 110 pounder can bench press. They are tough kids. I do have a girl who can throw a spiral 40 yards. Can you top that?

I deeply appreciate that KWG used his 1000th post to talk smack on a fading and/or inconsistant basketball team at the bottom of the ACC by a fan of a middle of the road and inconsistant basketball team near the bottom of the ACC. Of course his 1001st post is talking smack on an inconsistant SEC football team by a fan of a middle of the road (ok, third-place) ACC football team. But I am still waiting for my love letter. And VT still rules over UM(iami), even in basketball, and KWG is still my b***h.

Thanks so much for the pic, StPtGator. Of course it is very unsportsmanlike to razz someone when he is down, but I usually make exceptions for Miami. Of course, the next Miami qb will be in the same position many times next year. And I understand certain Miami fans like that position, too....
