GO ERIC CROUCH!!!!!! YOU ARE A GOD!!!!
GO BIG RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Informal polling has indicated that most of the voters had a really hard time deciding who they were leaning toward. Unsubstantiated reports have Crouch and Carr as the top candidates. But most of the voters really struggled. I suspect that this will be one of those years where the voting is very tight.
The process of elimination generally weeds out Dorsey, Grossman and Harrington.

No player among the choices meant MORE to his offense than Crouch. And Carr's numbers are pretty fat.

From what I saw of Harrington, he didn't live up to the pre-season media hype. And Dorsey is still a bit young. I think the voters are willing to let his chance wait for next year. Same for Grossman. Plus, the Gator QB did not look impressive in the loss to Auburn, and was only so-so vs. Tennessee.

Even though Nebraska lost badly to Colorado, it was certainly not Crouch's fault. His D let him down big time.

That said, I see Crouch #1, and Carr finishing a somewhat close #2. The media loves Crouch (as well as many a homo on this site).

How funny that everyone's short list is strictly QB's! DeShaun Foster f**ked up HUGE. This could have been the year for him, what with so many voters splitting votes between different QB's.

Why isn't the fifth nominee announced?

The Heisman Trophy is as much bullshit as the BCS.

Eric Crouch? Maybe if he was a running back, but he's not. How can you have a quarterback win the Heisman when he threw more INTs than TDs!!!!!!!

The fact that David (QB, Fresno State) was not nominated is disgusting. What makes it worse it that four quarterbacks - all of whom had fewer yards and fewer touchdowns and more INTs (except Harrington, who had 5 INTs to Carr's 7).

Cyd, Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the Heisman trophy for the best college football player? and not the best quarterback???

Having said that, it is hard to argue against Eric. Yes, NEBRASKA blew that game, but remember....Eric does not play defense... yet! Is it really fair to hold it against him that his offense did not score 63 points in that ONE game??? wink.gif

They reserve the right to invite a fifth nominee by Friday because they will still be counting votes by then. ESPN said the race was so close that that is why they delayed the first announcement by a day. As of yesterday's announcement, they had only tabulated about 20% of the votes.

And the fifth nominee will be Antwaan Randle El who was named Silver football winner as MVP of the Big Ten.
