Okay, so it's not for the National Championship, and it's not even a BCS Bowl. But, it is the Texas A&M Aggies vs. the Tennessee Volunteers, and it should be a great showdown. So whom do you think is going to win this game?

Here is a quick peak at each team's record and past Cotton Bowl appearances (courtesy of CottonBowl.org):
This year’s Classic will mark the second meeting between Tennessee and Texas A&M. The only other time these two teams have faced one another was on Dec. 28, 1957 in the Gator Bowl. The Vols won the game 3-0 in Bear Bryant’s final game as head coach at Texas A&M.

Tennessee, the SEC East Division Champion with a 9-3 record, will be making its 16th consecutive bowl appearance, and their first trip to Dallas since the 2001 Classic against Kansas State. The Vols are 2-3-0 all-time in the SBC Cotton Bowl.

The Aggies finished the regular season ranked 20th in the BCS with a 7-4 record. Texas A&M is making its first appearance in the SBC Cotton Bowl in seven years, dating back to 1998 against UCLA. This will be Texas A&M’s 11th trip to Dallas for the New Year’s Day Classic, the second most appearances by any team. The Aggies are 4-6-0 in the SBC Cotton Bowl.

Too easy. teenysee doesn't have a QB.

I don't know, GJ. Tennessee still scares me and the Ags did a complete no-show in the second half of the t.u. game. I want to see the Texas A&M offense that played against Oklahoma.

Do you know what really happened with your former coach? Phil ate him for Thanksgiving. smile.gif After all, you never saw him again after the Florida State game. Now, don't get on Phil's bad side...any of them. smile.gif

Too funny, bobby. Actually I swore not to make any jokes involving dental issues or McRibs when a UT fan made an icon for me that I use in The Virtual Swamp.

I can't make it work as an image here, but if you go to the VS, you can see it next to my name whenever I post. It's a Farley sheepdog from "For Better or For Worse" with "UF" next to his head.

BTW, Farley is getting HUGE. smile.gif

GJ, are you cheating on us with that "other" site?

Oh, no baby. I gotta get the Gator gossip over there to post over here.

And, being that it's a "str8" site, albeit one that is more civil than most, someone's gotta fly a rainbow flag.

You should check it out. There are a lot of Tennessee, f$u, and Auburn fans there, as well as a stray Stain or two. wink
Herr Tiggee
They should change the name of the Cotton Bowl to the "Alabama Hates Us Both Bowl."

I wonder how conflicted Bammers must be in seeing the hated Tennessee playing Dennis Franchione. No matter who wins, Bammers will probably be miffed. I call that a perfect scenario.

Beat the hell outta tu!
I can't believe we get another chance to play them...oh, wait a minute. They are UT and they wear orange, but they are not from Austin? Well, maybe our boys can displace some feelings of revenge and trounce the Vols.
Beat the hell outta Ten-nes-see! biggrin.gif

Hell, Tiggee, they're so psyched that THEY kept Auburn out of the national championship game, they're not even aware who is playing in the Cotton Bowl. BTW, this just announced, The Tuscaloosa news has declared Alabama 2004 National Champions for winning the first half of the Iron Bowl. That will be their 47th National Championship.

Well, you know whenever Pat Summitt is coaching, it's going to be intense.

What? Isn't it the University of Tennessee at Knoxville?

Nevermind.

Hmmm...have we ever seen Pat and Phil together in the smae place at the same time? Interesting...with a little make=up...a fat suit and a voice box to raise the voice......OMG

Yeah, we get a second chance to beat a t.u. that wears orange (albeit, both schools have ugly shades of the color) in one season. Let's hope this time it turns out a wee bit better then that November game.

Gator Jamie - working within.

I see the Aggies have a 15-11 lead in the poll. I voted for the Aggies, as they had a pretty good year in a tough football conference. Besides that, I didn't want Cattledog to think I voted against the Aggies. tongue.gif

Eight more days to the Cotton Bowl.
Cattledog
Oh, well rolleyes.gif ... This is just embarrassing. Let's hope this does not set the tone for the rest of my 2005. Congratulations Tennessee. I have already turned this disaster off.
dfwAggie99
Yeah, left my TV midway thru the 3rd quarter and got something to eat. Fran and the boys can try to find a positive somewhere from this game, but the Aggies gained nothing from playing this game. They just sucked in so many ways. We finished the season the way we started it against Utah. sad.gif

The only thing that made it worse was seeing t.u. squeeze out a win on that last-second field goal.
RazorbackTX
Woo Hoo!!! Aggies squashed, Horns win Rose, gotta love it!
MarylandVol
What can I say but GO BIG ORANGE!! Way to go for kickin' some AGGIE BUTTOCKS!
