Okay, so it's not for the National Championship, and it's not even a BCS Bowl. But, it is the Texas A&M Aggies vs. the Tennessee Volunteers, and it should be a great showdown. So whom do you think is going to win this game?
Here is a quick peak at each team's record and past Cotton Bowl appearances (courtesy of CottonBowl.org):
This year’s Classic will mark the second meeting between Tennessee and Texas A&M. The only other time these two teams have faced one another was on Dec. 28, 1957 in the Gator Bowl. The Vols won the game 3-0 in Bear Bryant’s final game as head coach at Texas A&M.
Tennessee, the SEC East Division Champion with a 9-3 record, will be making its 16th consecutive bowl appearance, and their first trip to Dallas since the 2001 Classic against Kansas State. The Vols are 2-3-0 all-time in the SBC Cotton Bowl.
The Aggies finished the regular season ranked 20th in the BCS with a 7-4 record. Texas A&M is making its first appearance in the SBC Cotton Bowl in seven years, dating back to 1998 against UCLA. This will be Texas A&M’s 11th trip to Dallas for the New Year’s Day Classic, the second most appearances by any team. The Aggies are 4-6-0 in the SBC Cotton Bowl.
