Full Version: Time Honored Traditions

College football is special because of the traditions and pagentry unique to each school.

As a Badger, I am proud of the traditions that make an Autumn Saturday afternoon in Madison so fun for me. Here's just a few...

* The playing and singing of "Varsity" and "On, Wisconsin!"
* Tailgate Parties (Bratwurst/Beer/Cheese, of course!)
* Camp Randall Stadium (77,000+ Red Clad Fans)
* Bucky Badger's Gameday Antics
* The Wisconsin Marching Band's 5th Quarter Celebration

Go ahead and tell us about your school's tradition(s)...

great idea!

script ohio has to be among the top time honored traditions...it is especially incredible when they do a quad-script (it is usually the weekend of the alumni band invasion)and the dotting of the "i" is such an honor (my father has a book just on the history of the band!)

the cheer of OH -- IO from opposite ends of the stadium

stadium anthem: hang on sloopy (which was played with much too frequency this past season as we found ourselves in WAY too many barn burners!)

newest: tressel's requirement that all players sing the alma mater, "carmen ohio" written in the 20's, after the game is over ohmy.gif

and some history: my brother's dorm room as a freshman was actually in the stadium! all i can remember (from 1973) was that it was absolutely disgusting! but he could sneak into games rather easily :cool:
