Wow! That's pretty major news, especially since there'd been no inkling of it earlier. Perhaps he'll wind up in Tampa Bay if Tony Dungy is canned, otherwise I would think the Vikings would be a perfect fit for him.

I'm sure a pro team is awaiting him. He's a football genius, but seems like kind of a dolt.

Steve Spurrier is the coach everyone loves to hate.

I was totally shocked to read this earlier. Did I miss something during the holidays? It does sound like he has something waiting in the wings.

I'm convinced that Spurrier is coming to Atlanta to coach the Falcons. New owners may want a new head coach. I could possibly finally become a Falcons fan!

Very typical of Spurrier to announce this the day after another Florida team won the national championship. The classy thing would have been to wait until next week and let Miami have the spotlight, at least for a day. But I'm not sure Spurrier and class necessarily go hand in hand.

After hearing the news today, my first thought was that he was headed to Min. Vikings, then as conversations went on around the gym, Atlanta, and Washington also came into play. It definately seems as thoug all that I talked to and myself included think he is ready for the transition to the pro ranks. I personally am glad to see him leave the SEC. Any Gator fans out there? What's the atmosphere like in Gainesville?

Weird rumor of the day: Spurrier to the newly vacant Vikings job--though how Denny survived that humiliation against the Giants last year is still a mystery--on the condition they move to Los Angeles.
I don't make 'em up, I just report 'em. Lots of noise being made about the Bolts moving here.

Autumn brings the fall of leaves. Winter signals the fall of a handful of NFL coaches every year.
Whether he has already been approached with his dream job already sewn up, or whether he's playing the exceptional odds of vacancies remains to be seen.
My suspicion is that he had word of a plum opportunity that has yet to be announced. I'm not entirely certain that the folks in Jacksonville are terribly pleased with the current handlers. That would keep him close to home.
And with Falcons ownership sale consummated, Reeves is set to go (if he hasn't already).
Look for him to be given full-reign (in charge of player personnel, i.e. draft picks) wherever he goes...he's a control freak.

It's Stoops. Offical now. I know it's been a done deal for a few days, but still hard to believe. OU would seem to be a destination program, with 7 national championships and a a dedicated base of fans. But, living in Norman.....
Texas fans seem pretty excited on the message boards, but I'm not. Bellotti could take over at OU and get his ring.

Shannahan is going to say NO as well. So much for Gator recruiting this year. I hope Spurrier goes to a team that cant win and then his sorry ass gets dumped. It's called Karma baby!

That settles it then. Spurrier is coming to Atlanta!
Little Steve Superior ...... oopps ... Spurrier will not be successful in the NFL because the players will not tolerate his bs that he pulled on his players especially QB's at uf. I can not see Spurrier in Atlanta, the heart of Bulldog territory, as he is view as the antichrist by all of the SEC teams.
I do see him in some evil plot in stabbing the most successful coach in Bucs history so he can get his dream job and return to Tampa Bay. Just like Jimmy Johnson did to Shula in Miami, I can predict that little Stevie will knife his own mother to get ahead in life. Also, it will be his revenge over the old owner of the Bucs, Hugh Culverhouse, who will not hire him as a head coach back in late 80's and early 90's because of his association with the USFL and the Tampa Bay Bandits. Poor Tony Dungy does not need treatment like this as he is one of the class acts in the NFL.
Also, we have another scenario with little Stevie going to Charlotte which will be a perfect fit. The connection is between old man Richardson who played for Duke and little Stevie starting his head coaching career for the Dukies. Richardson, his brat kids, and Spurrier are a great fit as they are a bunch of egomanics.
However, the perfect marriage would be Snyder and Spurrier in Washington. Two big jerks trying to outdo each other in the press. It will be a long running soap opera in the NFL.
Whereever little Stevie ends up, he will be fired by his third season in the NFL or he will a full
mutiny on his hands with his treatment of his players.
Finally, all of the SEC, Univ of Miami, and FSU fans are celebrating the coming death of the evil coaching genius.

Just read on ESPN.com that Shanahan is staying in Denver and that Florida is now looking at the defensive coordinator from the NEW ORLEANS FREAKIN SAINTS! Sorry, don't remember his name.
Yeah the administration at Florida must be impressed by the 40 PPG that great unit gave up the last 4 games! Go from offensive genius to defensive moron!

And the Gator players are gonna leave in mass. Grossman's saying he might go to the NFL as well...damn, poor Gators.

Poor Gators?!?!?!?!?!
You gotta be kidding me!
They've held an entire conference hostage for a decade and someone feels sympathy toward them????
Personally I hope they wind up with Barney Fife as head coach, and Grossman AND Berlin defect AND their customary 2-5 supporting players bolt for the bucks in their sophomore or junior years.
Screw the Gators. Let them have a meltdown for about 5 years, or until they redevelop some semblance of humility.
