The current National Champion Miami Hurricanes have been struck by tragedy. Starting LB Chris Campbell was killed early Saturday morning when he lost control of his car and crashed into a tree. Now word on alcohol or drugs as yet, but toxicology reports are pending. Also, the article does not say whether he was wearing a seat belt.

Campbell, 21, started for three seasons for the 'Canes and was practicing with teammates for the NFL draft.

This comes on the heels of yesterday's death of baseball player Mike Darr.

What a sad day. Chris was a great person. He went to high school with one of my students and she had nothing but good things to say about him. He gave so much of his time to kids at risk here in Miami. It is such a big senseless loss.
