Despite condemnation from columnists and commentators about turning the catch phrase from 9/11 into a football slogan, the Todd Beamer Foundation gave Bowden its OK.

Even though the Beamer Foundation gave its OK, I think FSU should back away. To compare the challenges the FSU football team will take on against those of the heroes of Flight 93 is just tacky. If Bowden wants to use the phrase "Let's Roll" in the privacy of the lockerroom, that's one thing. But when it becomes the official team logo and starts appearing on backpacks, mugs, cardboard signs, foam fingers and towels, well that's too much.
George and others ... you have not read the WHOLE story ... Since 1981, the Seminoles choose a new slogan every year. Coach Bowden usually lets his players make the decision in picking the slogan; however, he choose "Let's roll" as a tribute to honor the passengers aboard United Airlines Flight # 93 who prevented the terrorists from crashing the plane into the White House or Capitol.
Every year since 1981, only FSU players wear t-shirts bearing the slogan under their jerseys. FSU officials, including the athletic department and bookstore, have never sell any merchandise connect to the slogan. And this year, they will not sell any t-shirts, mugs, book bags, etc to the public.
Regarding the "Felony State" remark, are you a closeted "gator" fan who will not show their true colors.
I am proud to be an alumni of Florida State University and is honored that Ms. Beamer is proud to be associated with us. My alma mater is one of upcoming universities along with University of Miami, University of Texas, Arizona State University, and UCLA that have come to age in last 30 years.
