There is something that needs to be done about this football beast that is Notre Dame. My goodness , you would think they have won as many naational championships in the past couple of decades as Miami. They have 1 and a lot of so, so seasons.

What is this fascination with Notre Dame football?

How dare they talk about not being a full member of a league. I still don't understand how they got that contract with NBC.

They should be glad that any conference would court them. Frankly, they can keep the Notre Dame Mystique.

teams should remove them from their schedules until NBC cancels that silly contract which seems to make them think they deserve some sort of special treatment from any conference who wants them.

That's why they never should have been allowed to remain a football independent, but allowed to compete in conference for other sports.

It's about time somebody told them all or nothing. Let em schedule a bunch of no name schools and see if NBC keeps renewing that contract.

Oh please! Quit the cry baby antics. Join a friggin' conference already. Independent status is for programs trying to BECOME something. ND is already at that level (this season not withstanding, LOL).

The Irish are a bunch of elitist snobs that feel they are "too good" for a conference. I'm sick of it. If they want a shot at a national title, they should become aligned - no more special clauses or favors. The BCS should grow some balls and force the issue on ND. Case closed.

It's called M-O-N-E-Y. Once NBC drops that silly "exclusive" contract, ND will be like some silly homecoming queen who always had a date with the star quarterback and turned down every other guy at school, and now that he's dumped her when she put on a few pounds, she'll learn that since she's pissed every one else off, they won't be offering the world for her attentions any more, and she'll have to settle for a trip to McDonald's!

What pisses me off is the special consideration from the BCS. Why is Notre Dame special? Why not Marshall or BYU or another non-BCS conference team that has had great success in the recent past. Because of the special consideration ND has gotten a BCS bowl when other teams were better and higher ranked.

It is all about the money. I think that the BCS is in trouble this year with all of the big conference teams beating up on each other while the mid majors are showing strength. If N. Ill., Marshall, or another mid-major team ends up with only 1 or 2 losses, or even better undefeated, after beating all of those ranked teams from big conferences, the BCS will have a real problem. One day, a playoff will happen, I hope.
