Which match-ups are you most looking forward to?
For me it will be:
California at Tennessee (9/2) -- Cal's supposed to vie with USC for the Pac Ten this year and the Vols should bounce back from last year's awful season.
Ohio State at Texas (9/9) -- BCS Championship elimination game.
Penn State at Notre Dame (9/9) -- first game since 1992 for these two powers (they used to play regularly when PSU was independent)
Oklahoma at Oregon (9/16) -- Autzen is one of the toughest places to win for a road team -- and what sort of team will the Sooners be?
WVU at Louisville (11/2) -- the probably Big East championship game
but most importantly, the Badgers first game! Wisconsin vs. Bowling Green (9/2).
edited to add: Northwestern at Miami (8/31) -- highly emotional game for the Wildcats after losing their coach.

Good picks all, Bucky. I like the NU/Miami game, because of the emotional upheaval the team went thru, and the CA/TN game because it brings together two good teams from totally different conferences, with loads of other differences between them. I like PSU and OSU in their respective matchups, but anything can happen in SBend! And we're less than a month away from kickoff!

I can't wait for the WVU-L'ville showdown. This is going to be war and the game that will likely decide the BE's BCS bid. Both teams could be unbeaten and ranked in the Top 10. The Cal-Tenn game is also intriguing. I'll be interested to see how the Vols bounce back from last year's disaster.
By the way Bucky, will you be doing the College FB pick-em contest this year?

sorry to disagree, but the most highly anticipated game of the year is on 8/31 when Temple travels to Buffalo

..... the lead game to determine who will wind up #119 for the season in week 1.
As it should be

I'll know in a week or so if I'm gonna have time this fall to do it.
I just hope we have a good number of participants. Several of last season's participants don't post here anymore (they're over playing in another sandbox).

I'm highly anticipating a certain Saturday, Sept. 16th, because of all of the great games that day:
Iowa State @ Iowa -- noon (ESPN)
Oklahoma @ Oregon -- 3:30 p.m. (ABC)
Miami (FL) @ Louisville -- 3:30 p.m. (ABC)
LSU @ Auburn -- 3:30 p.m. (CBS)
Michigan @ Notre Dame -- 3:30 p.m. (NBC)
Clemson @ Florida State -- 7:45 p.m. (ESPN)
Nebraska @ USC -- 8:00 p.m. (ABC)
Florida @ Tennessee -- 8:00 p.m. (CBS)
Make sure you have new batteries for your remote! All of those should be great games between ranked teams.

Look for the Miami @Louisville game to be a springboard game for the Big East to showcase one its top teams against former Big East power Miami.
Louisville behind their exceptional QB Brian Brohm ( who didn't play against VT in the Gator Bowl)and poweful RB Michael Bush have and Card fans circling this the date on the calender. Louisville believes it needs to teach the old BE bullies a lesson for allowing the Canes to come back 2 years ago in the Orange Bow to escape with a narrow victory.
Few teams can even compete with Louisville at home, much less beat them. This should be an outstanding game at Pappa John Stadium.
The Miami game is huge not only for Louisville, but for Big East interests.

I will be at the Oklahoma @ Oregon game and so I am pretty excited to see how my Sooners will do. Being a Pac-10 guy, I know the ducks very well but have never experienced a game in Autzen Stadium. It will be GREAT times.

I'm looking forward to the "Coal Bowl" between WVU and Marshall (HEAVY SARCASM)
WVU fans are so pissed off that we're being forced to play Marshall every year instead of trying to get a decent OOC game
let's not bring up Eastern Washington on our schedule, we were stuck with that one when Buffalo decided to pull out of its contract
but Eastern Washington will probably give us a better game than Buffalo would have

The governor and the legislature got involved and pretty much forced a seven-year series down WVU's throat. Incredible.

Not to mention that NU's deceased coach (Randy Walker) was the head coach at Miami for nine years prior to becoming HC at NU. He also played for and graduated from Miami in the 70's.
I'm also looking forward to any game where someone beats ND. Any team that does becomes my new favorite.

A couple games that have intrigue to me
Hawaii @ Alabama - The 2006 Tide secondary will get a serious test right off the bat when Hawaii comes to Tuscaloosa. A win over the mighty Tide could get the ball rolling in Honolulu.
Northern Illinois @ Ohio St. - The Ohio St. revamped front 7 also gets a good first test when Garrett Wolfe and the Huskies come calling to Columbus. I think NIU is a good game for OSU to play before their trip to Austin

I have a lot of respect for I-AA schools, I did time at Marshall when they were still I-AA and saw the level of play

I'm with T-Daddy on this one. I respect the Eastern Washington's and other 1-AA schools that want to play the big boys. You have to figure Eastern Washington has nothing to gain by playing this game. Travel expenses to Morgantown from the Pacific Northwest is going is going to be more than your occasional regional 1-AA team playing a powerhouse.
I doubt EWU plays with WVU for 4 quarters, but Divsion 1-AA teams have won some games recently against 1-A teams.
Cal-Davis beat Stanford last year. The same Cardnial team that was beating ND in the 4th quarter last year.
However, that is a typical Walt Harris coached team- See during his Pitt years.

Speaking of getting a room...
Cal/Tennessee...might be a test of Cal's year and whether they manage to find a QB.
For me the most anticipated games will all be Pac-10 matchups...this is going to be an exciting season. Any game that involves USC, Cal, Oregon, ASU, Arizona and maybe OSU and UCLA will be competitive. Look for at least 4 Pac-10 teams to be in the top 25 this year.
That said - I love watching Penn St/Ohio St/Auburn play on TV. Miami, Florida St and Virginia Tech games BORE me to near death. Love Louisville, Boston College, and the so-called lesser teams such as Fresno St, Boise St, Toledo, etc.

Well I have to give some love to the Mountain West of course. Some of my highly anticipated games (besides the ones already mentioned) are:
9/9 Colorado @ Colorado State. Always a blood bath and always intense. Played in Invesco and always a sell out.
9/16 Texas Tech @ TCU - Most likely a Top 25 matchup.
9/16 BYU @ Boston College - BYU takes its potent offense cross country for an ACC opponent.
9/30 Boise State @ Utah - Perhaps the best matchup on the schedule not featuring automatic qualifier teams.

I can't believe no one has mentioned my favorite game from last season.
USC vs Notre Dame 11/25/06.
Last year I was in a bar in San Luis Obispo and walked out thinking Notre Dame had won. Then as we're walking down the street I hear the most earth-shattering cheer coming from every direction from every bar on the street. I didn't need to run to a bar to know what had happened but I did anyway. It was incredible.
