Geez -- after setting an MLB strike out record last year--1399--they've already had 58 this year (as opposed to 48 hits) -- 40 alone this weekend vs. Arizona. I fear it's gonna be another long season in Milwaukee.

Strikeouts aren't the worst thing in the world; they're tolerable if you're Ruth or Reggie, not if you're Rob Deer.

The Brewers are not gonna face Unit and Schilling all year. However, for non-K reasons, things don't look good.

Speaking of Rob Deer: Do any of the michigan fellas on here remember when Deer was part of the tigers and one of the TV stations had the "Rob Deer Whiff Watch" where they would up date us every day how many times Robbie boy struck out. Late in the season this station didn't even tell you the score of the game all they would do is say Today Rob Deer stuck out twice which brings his season total up to 132 and no onto the real team in MLB. it was classic -- sorry for the side note but the name Rob Deer just brought back memories.

sp - Deer began his MLB career with the SF Giants, mid '80s or so. Although he was never an everyday starter before his trade to Milwaukee, he was already showing his propensity for K's even then .....

MSU factoid: Deer played at Fresno City College before signing with SF. Another quite famous FCC Ram who did pretty good on the banks of the Red Cedar was one Mike Rasmussen (back in the Duffy Daugherty days).
