Fellow college football watchin' Outsporters (or is that Outsportees?), Six Los Angeles college football freaks have decided to descend upon Las Vegas for the weekend involving the games on Nov. 15th....and ALL YOU are invited.
Sick of not finding other gay college fans in your area? Then join us.
Originally our idea was to hang out in a sports book bar (perhaps Caeser's?) to watch the games, make some wagers, and guzzle the poisons of our choice. Several folks will probably decide to see a show of some sort as well (Cirque?). Its Vegas, for cryin' out loud...you'll find somethin' to do.
But we'll be doing it with other gay college football fans. Interested?
Please post a response here indicating your interest, so we can keep this topic alive. The hotel arrangements are being worked on, but if anyone has recommendations for a sports-book oriented trip, please let me know.
FYI, Here are most of the important games scheduled that Saturday:
Southern Cal at Arizona
Arizona State at Washington State
Purdue at Ohio State
Michigan State at Wisconsin
Minnesota at Iowa
LSU at Alabama
Auburn at Georgia
Florida at South Carolina
Kansas State at Nebraska
Texas Tech at Texas
Texas A&M at Missouri
Colorado at Iowa State
Pitt at West Virginia
NC State at FSU
Cincinnati at TCU
Northern Illinois at Toledo

My living room is way too small to host this sort of thing (seating capacity: 5) ... so I would recommend some place with a mega-sized sports book.
The Mirage has a California Pizza Kitchen right next to its huge sports book ... enough to make it my favorite and my recommend. Plus, you could see the white tigers and pray for a speedy recovery for Roy. Caesars and MGM's sports books are nice and huge too. The Luxor has a rep for being the most gay-friendly hotel on the Strip ... but its sports book is tiny and the big TV's are up too high to watch comfortably.
There may be a problem with travelling to Las Vegas that weekend: Comdex starts up on November 16. It's the biggest convention in the world and it sucks up all hotel rooms in Las Vegas. Friday and Saturday nights might be tight and very expensive that weekend with Comdex ready to start up. If you're going to do this, you better get your rooms quickly.

Thanks for the advice, CITT. Just checked Caeser's, and its a hard sellout. The Mirage appears to have rooms available. Waiting to hear back from my LA buds, but it would appear that Mirage is our best bet. Plus, I believe the Mirage is fairly close to Caeser's, so we can probably take our pick of sports book bars based on which ever one suits our mood.

Would love to make the flight out there, but it's FSU homecoming, so I'll be on stage Friday night and on the field Saturday with the FSU Band Alumni.

It now looks like we're headed for the Flamingo, across the street from Caeser's. Let me know if you really wanna come. We're in the last stages of arranging a group rate.

This seems intresting, but as previously stated that Comdex starts up and this town is a madhouse. But. "HEY" I'm game.

Latest update on Vegas - those coming from out of town are staying at the Flamingo Hilton, across from Ceaser's Palace. Rooms are still available.
Our plan is to watch the games at Ceaser's. If anyone living within close driving distance of Vegas wishes to join us and return home that evening, please let me know so we'll all be able to meet that Saturday.
Should be fun!

You guys left one very important game out of the 11-15 lineup: my alma mater Wabash at DePauw in the Monon Bell Classic, the oldest continuous college rivalry west of the Alleghenies!
Alums usually gather in major cities to watch this game, and I'm helping set up such an event in SD, but for one major problem: whoever decided to air the game chose HD Net, which is a service available only residentially, NOT to sports bars, etc. Hello Alumni Office?
At any rate, if I can't see Monon Bell, I'll try to get up to Vegas for the weekend and hang with you guys.
BTW, anyone know if Tempe Mayor Neil Giuliano is having his annual pre-Fiesta Bowl party this year? It's on New Year's Eve, right?
