premptive strike against C-USA?

Not just C-USA, but the Big East. There are rumors about the ACC going after Boston College, so the Big East will need one more football team.

Knights Weighing Options

This article from the Orlando Sentinel has a TON of information on how things are progressing with the Big East, CUSA and the MAC, and how UCF will have many things to consider before making any decision.

It appears the UCF is hoping that the Big East will make an offer (even if just football), and that is backed up by an online poll showing 63% in favor of the Big East over CUSA, MAC all-sports, or MAC football only.

Also interesting is that when the Big East is dropped as a choice, a large majority is saying to go with CUSA. Not that we are disrespecting the MAC, but I don't think people around here feel any connection to the conference yet, and there's a big reason for CUSA just a little over an hour west on I-4 - the University of South Florida.

UCF and USF have a home-home football series scheduled for 2005-2006 and the games will be in Raymond Jaymes Stadium and the Citrus Bowl, two very large stadiums. USF's Athletic Director Lee Roy Selmon (yep, that one) told a CUSA AD meeting that he expects both games to be sold out, averaging 70,000 per game. (This would be the first time UCF would utilize the upper deck at the Citrus Bowl - they currently only use the lower deck.)

My choices on the online poll you ask? I say go with CUSA if they offer an all-sports invitation.
