Full Version: Brady Anderson comeback?

Brady Anderson wants to make a comeback in baseball and play again next season. He had a dismal final year and doesn't consider himself retired. What do you think? Can he make it? Should he even try? Much as I'd love to see him on the field again (or anywhere), I wish he'd bow out gracefully.Baltimore Orioles

As a friend of mine is fond of saying of washed-up entertainers, "When you're dead, you should lie down."

38 years old, rather washed up, a bad back, a slowed down bat speed. Yup! Sounds like a perfect candidate for the White Sox. I'm sure the misers there would jump at the chance. After all, it's either a has-been or a player to be born later whom they go after.

You ripping on my team there, Ump? If so, you're askin for it...

He'll probably be the first player Dusty Baker picks up for the Cubs!

Can't Brady coach or something... you know ...

Hot Stud Baseball Jock turn Coach...now, that's a novel ideal...

Let's see...

He used to be hot with the wood, maybe he can coach a young rookie on how to hold his bat.

or

He definitely can coach a hot jock on the best way to suggestively wear compression shorts and pose with his hard bat. (black & white print optional)

OK.. MY Javy is calling..Comming my hunk of humpy muscle manbutt.

OH,OH Did I say that?

Don't even JOKE about that.

The Cubs should pick him up and make him the centerpiece for Gay Day.

He could be the MLB posterboy/centerpiece for gay day, going from stadium to stadium. I picture him sprawled out on a big sterling silver tray, being carried around on the field.

Why does anyone think Brady Anderson is gay. I thought he was dating Amanda Coetzer - South African player on the Williams Tennis Association - hehehe :-)

Brady has signed with the Padres minor league team. He'll be 39 soon. Is this kind of sad?

Depends on whether you feel an athlete should keep playing as long as he or she wants. Brady clearly wants to keep playing. If he's not risking his health then why not let him try? It seems his best days are long behind him, though, so I hope he doesn't expect to go to San Diego and win a starting outfielder job. I think he could be a valuable addition for a team that needs a veteran on the bench.

From the San Diego Padres website:

[quote]No real explanation could be found for his season-long power surge. Although always a health and fitness buff, an offseason weight-training program and use of the muscle enhancer Creatine had added considerable bulk to his previously slender frame.

Some people offered the friendly dimensions of Camden Yards as a cause, but Anderson actually hit 31 of his 50 home runs on the road. Others suggested the addition of All-Star second baseman Roberto Alomar behind him in the lineup led to a steady diet of fastballs.

Hmm, could it be that Brady enjoyed having Robert Alomar behind him in more ways than one? Rumor has long had it that the reason Alomar flipped out and spit at that umpire was because the umpire called him "faggot" or some variation. Did the remark hit a little too close to the bone?
