The NCAA announced they are adding three new bowl games. This will bring the total number to 28 games, which of course translates to 56 teams!

The new bowls:

San Francisco Bowl-Schools from Mountain West and Big East

Hawaii Bowl-Conference USA and Western Athletic Conference teams

Queen City Bowl-Teams from the ACC and Big East will meet in Charlotte.

Thats 2 more bids for a pretty mediocre Big East. Rutgers must be drooling!!!

That's right, folks. Now every team has a 48.7% chance of playing in a bowl game!
This situation grows dumber all the time.
Not that the NCAA is the only shameless perpetrator. The NBA plays 82 games, and then lets almost half the teams into the postseason.
And I think they do something similar with the NHL.

Bowl games should be a prize, a reward. Last year saw a bowl game with a losing-record team as one of its participants. Ouch!

Why in the world would they have a bowl in San Francisco that includes a team from the Big East? At this point, if your city doesn't have a bowl you should feel slighted.

They just need to add 4 more bowls to get to 32, which would mean 64 teams...and then they set up the playoff system!!!
