Your conference looks good on paper, and may one day be nice...but let's call it what it is.

Not a power conference.

Here are some facts:

-The ACC has not had a relevant championship team in 6 years, when an arrogant FSU team was humbled by the Oklahoma Sooners in the Orange Bowl.

-The ACC has been abysmal in BCS games, with a 1-7 record. To put that in perspective, the Big Ten has 8 BCS wins. The Big East has 4 times as many wins as the ACC. The Mountain West has matched the ACC's dominance with 1 win in BCS games.

-For the last 5 years, the ACC champion has had at least 3 losses.

-For the last 5 years, the ACC champion has finished outside of the top 9.

-In the last 5 years, the ACC champions have been 3-10 against top 25 Out of Conference opponents.

Welcome to reality, ACC fans. You are a second tier conference in football until you can actually PROVE otherwise

Ok - understandably - you are bitter at the loss of VT, Miami, and BC from your conference - but the ACC has just evolved in the last two years - I think we need to give it more than ONE year, before we decide they are crap.. I think it is great that some of the remaining teams in the Big East are showing that they are national contenders in football and basketball. Isn't the Big East looking to recruit some other schools into the conference to make them eligible for a BCS bid once again?

"Bitter"

Answer: Why would I or any other Big East fan be bitter? We now have eight fully fucntioning teams that play with integrity that are pro- Big East. Big East Programs like UCONN and Rutgers are now able to develop into football programs that will attract America's largest televeision market in the Northeast into becoming college football fans. The upside is tremendous.

Also, why would WVU fans be upset about the departure of Miami? WVU has been on the same level as Miami for the last 3 years and most likely had better teams the last two. WVU owned Boston College as is evidenced by its 22-11 record. Same with WVU's 28-22 series record over Tech.

The Big East has an outstanding chance to provide 2 teams to the BCS this year in WVU and Louisville giving the Big East 34 million dollars to divide among its 8 football teams.

"I think it is great that some of the remaining teams in the Big East are showing that they are national contenders in football and basketball."

Answer:

BC, VT, and Miami were never major players in Big East basketball. Their departure actually allowed for the Big East to become the most dominant basketball conference outside the NBA.

"Isn't the Big East looking to recruit some other schools into the conference to make them eligible for a BCS bid once again?"

Answer:

Not really. Penn State and maybe Navy would be the only two schools the Big East would be interested in speaking with concerning expanstion. PSU even being out of place in the Big 10 is probably not a possibility unless the Big East could prove as financially lucrative as the Big 10 on many levels. Navy would only be considered as a football member for scheduling purposes.

Other than that, the Big East is not interested in mid major programs from CUSA or other conferences. The BCS berth will always be with the Big East champ regardless of expansion or not.

I was going to say-the BE has not and will not lose their BCS bid

with the performance of the ACC last year, they're in more danger of doing so

Correct me if I'm wrong Gym and Theo, but BC never won the BE conference. At best, they were middle of the pack. Tech may have shared the FB title once (perception is reality when it comes to Tech). The BE is by far the best basketball conference in the country - thanks to the ACC watering down its basketball league for the sake of a football playoff. As far as football goes, the BE could easily have two Top 10, BCS-eligible teams this year.

When ( not even an IF) Louisville routs visiting Miami in an early season Big East-ACC clash for a national television audience, this will most likely give the Big East two top 5 teams heading into the WVU-UL game on Nov. 2nd.

The winner of this highly anticipated game has a very good chance of playing for the national championship. The irony is the loser most likely will secure a BCS at large bid if it the Big East runnner up doesn't stumble. The irony of the Big East grabbing a 34 million dollar payout ( divided by 8 teams) while the ACC most likely ends up with a 17 million dollar payout ( divided by 12 teams) would be sweet news for the surging Big East.

You are right Jersey. Aside from Rutgers ( pre last year's turnaround) and Temple, Boston College was was probably the least accomplished football program.
