I know there's still a long way to go, but who would you give the awards to if the season were over?

AMERICAN LEAGUE

MVP-Alfonso Soriano, Yankees
Cy Young-Derek Lowe, Red Sox
Rookie of the (Half)Year-Eric Hinske, Blue Jays
Manager of the (Half)Year-Ron Gardenhire-Twins
Most Surprising Team-Angels
Most Disappointing Team-White Sox

NATIONAL LEAGUE

MVP-Barry Bonds, Giants
Cy Young-Tom Glavine, Braves
Rookie of the (Half)Year-Kaz Ishii, Dodgers
Manager of the (Half)Year-Jim Tracy, Dodgers
Most Surprising Team-Expos
Most Disappointing Team-Mets

I know lots of people think Grady Little has done the best managerial job with the Red Sox. But Gardenhire has kept the Twins atop the Central without 2 of his top 3 starters (Radke and Mays)for most of the first half. Plus starters like Rivas, Ortiz, Mientkiewicz and Koskie have spent good chunks of time on the DL.

I also considered Shawn Green for MVP. He's a very close second in my opinion.

And while I selected the White Sox as the disappointing team, I am not complaining. I also think the Astros are kind of disapponting, but they've played better lately. The Mets are just a mess.

I agree with most of your picks... I'd take Randy Johnson by a hairsbreadth over Glavine for the Cy, with Schilling 3rd. Lowe has the AL for now, but I think Barry Zito could blow by him in the second half.

And in the belief that how mediocre your teammates are should have zilch to do with an *individual* award, the AL MVP is Alex Rodriguez, with Ichiro (who would not have made my top ten last year) 2nd. (Yes, I would put Soriano somewhere in 3-4-5.)
