In case you didn't catch one of this year's most exciting college football games, Texas rallied for 27 fourth quarter points to overcome a tough Washington team, beating the Huskies 47 - 43. Senior QB Major Applewhite led the Horns to the largest comeback in school history, while completing 37 of 55 for 473 yards. Another awesome performance for our "back-up" QB.
Excellent Article on the MajorI'm still jumping up and down, I'm so pumped! Do yourself a favor and catch at least the highlights of this game; it's worth it!

Unbelievable! I turned this one off when it was 36-17. Texas wasn't doing too much so naturally, I assumed it was over. Another blow for the Pac-10. That makes them 0-3 so far. Over the years, the Holiday Bowl has provided some incredibly exciting games.

Yeeeee Hawwwww !!!! Hook'em Horns !
I didn't get to see alot of the game and last I heard the Longhorns were down 36-17. Thought at the time, what a sad way for Major Applewhite to end his college football career. But,in the usual manner of Major Applewhite, he didn't let adversity keep him down. He rallied, thought, fought and won. CONGRADS MAJOR !!!!
Major should had been the starting quarterback all season long. To deny a record holder like Major his earned position in his senior year so some pretty boy daddy's boy could play, reeked like fresh cow chips on a wet muddy pasture. Alot of us here in Texas were fit to hog tie a ex football player has been.
Major, being Major, faced it with grace, dignity and leadership. When called upon, Major was there to give what his team needed to win. Every inch the leader. Pretty boy Sims can take heed from Major. Note to Pretty boy Sims: It's bad form to be smiling when your teammate throws an interception. Didn't daddy Sims teach you anything? Certianly didn't teach you how to win a championship.
The Eyes of Texas are upon you Mack Brown, and you can not get away. Was it worth a Rose Bowl and a national championship to appease daddy Sims and whatever deal was made? Least you are consistent coach Brown. It's the same end of year song every year.... Close but no cigar... Next Year.
Next Year, Major won't be around to bail Texas out. Oh Yeah, we'll have pretty boy... he'll give good face....how bout a championship? Better call daddy.

Well I wasn't too surprised about the outcome of this game. I think the Huskies have been over-rated all year long...

Not as a player, but I understand Brown has given Major an open invite to be a graduate assistant if nothing pans out in the NFL/CFL/NFL Europe areas. Brown mentioned he saw qualities in Applewhite that would transcend well into coaching - it'll be interesting to see how his future shapes up (consider Neuheisel's rise to major coaching ranks)....... But for now, I hope Applewhite savors the victory.
As for next year (even next spring practice) it'll be interesting to see if the QB job is truly pu up for grabs.....
