From Criminals in Miami to Vandals in Idaho

Univerisity of Idaho athletic director Rob Spear planned to meet with former Idaho and NFL coach Dennis Erickson on Wednesday and offer him the head coaching job.


Spear told The Spokesman-Review newspaper in Spokane, Wash., that he anticipates Erickson will accept.


"I think there's a good chance," Erickson told The Idaho Statesman newspaper in Boise. "This interests me."


The school scheduled a late afternoon news conference, and Spear said no further talks had been scheduled with other prospective replacements for Nick Holt, who quit Monday.

I remember seeing an Oregon State game on ESPN some years ago, and the Beavers had committed several personal fouls over the course of the game. Bill Curry commented (paraphrasing) that Erikson had made the decision long ago that he was comfortable with running a program in which late hits and other dirty moves were a part of the team's psyche.

Interesting. I don't recall seeing this story in the Spokesman-Review this morning. I may have missed it, but will be watching my sports news on local tv later to see if this is true/confirmed.
