I'm so glad my beloved Buckeyes were not named the #1 pre-season pick. That is the kiss of death!
Who picked Auburn as #1 though? Must be an alumnus. Interesting to note that #8 Iowa and #10 WA St. both dropped out of the Top 25.

The Sporting News has Auburn as their preseason #1. I'd bet its probably one of the SEC voters who voted them #1 in this poll, or possibly a coach of a non-conference opponent.

Iowa and WSU's omission is not a big shock, even though I think both teams may not best be forgotten (WSU is in my pre-season top 25)

Ummm... Was the omission of the University of Houston Cougars a techincal error, or gross oversight?

Remember Beachjock, The Sporting News also correctly picked your beloved Ohio State Buckeyes as #1 last year if I remember correctly. So don't go hatin' on my Tigers because it was probably Phil Fulmer that voted us # 1 in this poll since we play them this year.
