We're nearing halftime of the Fiesta Bowl and, if Colorado doesn't make this a game, there's going to be a split national championship if Nebraska can knock off Miami.

Go Huskers!!

Well, it's in the fourth quarter now, and Oregon is making its case pretty clearly that they belonged in the Rose Bowl. I think it would be nice if they got the AP vote, but I am still rooting for Miami so there is no controversy at all!

Hey Cyd - glad to see you finally cheering for the Huskers!
Interesting game with the Buffy-boys and the Ducks. My disappointment of the day was Michigan losing and playing so poorly that John Navarre and his fantabulous ass were rarely even on the field.
Full day of football already and still the Sugar Bowl to go tonight! Intense day of jock-TV!

Take that Colorado. Oregon DOMINATED every aspect of this game. I am just a happy Quacker backer. What a way to start 2002! My man Joey was sensational & pure Joey. He showed why he was a finalist for the Heisman. The gushing over Joey by Gary by Brent was a little much, but hey, it is not often that the National spotlight is on the Ducks. I am now a Huskers fan becasue I want the Ducks to at least have a share of the National Championship. If Miami wins, I will still be ticked that we will never know if the Ducks would have been able to beat the Hurricanes. Mighty "O" all the way! Quack Quack

I always thought it was abusrd that people were arguing Colorado with two losses even deserved consideration for the national title, so I was thrilled to see Oregon shut them and everybody else up. If there's a better college quarterback than Joey Harrington, I haven't seen him (David Carr is close, but don't think he played the quality of opponent as Harrington).

For all those out there that constantly bitch about "how much the BCS sucks," consider this alternative.

Remember the days before the BCS? Remember the old days of strict conference tie-ins?

Your bowl games would have been:
Orange: Miami vs. Colorado
Rose: Oregon vs. Illinois

So even without the BCS, you still wouldn't have had your wish...unless you wanted 2-loss Colorado against Miami.

Please put the whining in perspective. The BCS, flawed as it is, is better than the shit that came before. The fact that the NCAA makes an effort to line up #1 and #2 is better than the days when #1, #2, #3 and #4 often played in different games.

In the absence of a true playoff I would MUCH prefer the old days. More Jan. 1 games meant something before (these days NONE of the New Year's games games mean anything, save for the fluke this year with the Fiesta Bowl).

I have two comments to make about the Rose Bowl tonight. 1) It never fails: no matter how bad the weather is, it's guaranteed to clear up by game time. It was drizzling a bit this AM, sure enough, I walked out of work at 5:00 and it was clear.

2) Nebraska: Bu. Buwa. BUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! L.o.s.e.r.s. And they didn't even have the cutest QB tonight.
