Full Version: CF Pick'em -- Week II
Outsports Discussion Board > Outsports > Football, College
DCBucky
The game of the week tiebreaker is Miami @ Florida. I need your first pick in by Friday evening -- for Hawaii @ BYU.

Friday
1) Hawaii @ BYU -- it’s revenge time as Hawaii ended BYU’s 12-game win streak last season by 72-45

Saturday
2) Texas A&M at Pittsburgh – both teams are 1-0, Pitt having defeated Ohio and A&M beating Univ. of Louisiana-Lafayette (known fondly around the Bucky household as Ooo-La-La)

3) San Diego State at Colorado – a last-second blocked field goal prevented the Aztecs from winning at Fresno State last week; in the meantime the Buffs are smarting from their loss to Colorado State.

4) Stanford at Boston College – Cardinal QB Chris Lewis is suspended for 2 games – they’ll be starting a freshman. BC had to rally to beat UConn last week.

5) South Carolina at Virginia – No rest for UVA -- they narrowly lost to Col. State, got spanked by FSU and now host Lou Holtz’s Gamecocks.

6) Fresno State at Oregon – Fresno State continues its tough non-conference schedule with a visit to Autzen, where Jason Fife looks to be a worthy successor to Joey Harrington.

7) Colorado State at UCLA – the Rams are on a roll, beating in-state rivals Colorado and winning at UVA. UCLA has yet to play this season.

8) Purdue at Notre Dame – great in-state rivalry, but the Boilermakers haven’t won in South Bend since 1974

9) Louisville at Duke – The first of our "we’d rather see these schools play basketball" games. Dave Ragone’s Heisman hopes took as bad a pounding as he did in the Cardinal’s loss to Kentucky. Duke got its first win in two years (ending a 23-game losing streak) with a victory over East Carolina.

10) North Carolina at Syracuse – The second "we’d rather see these schools play basketball" game. The Orangemen looked awful against BYU – but can perennial ACC also-ran UNC pull off a victory?

11) Illinois at Southern Mississippi – will the defending Big Ten champs get back on track?

12) Louisiana Tech at Clemson – A rematch of last year’s Humanitarian Bowl (won by the Tigers 49-24). Last week Clemson nearly upset Georgia, while La Tech rallied from a 36-18 deficit to beat Okla. State. But everyone except FSU knows that winning at Death Valley is tough.

13) Alabama at Oklahoma – had to throw a gimme in the mix ... this match probably looked great when they scheduled it years ago, but Alabama’s NCAA probation isn’t helping – they nearly lost to Middle Tennessee …

14) Central Florida at Arizona State -- Central Florida lost to Penn State by only 3 points

15) Miami at Florida (tiebreaker -- predict how many points the victor will win by) – one of the most eagerly awaited match-ups of the year.

Really enjoyed this, count on me every week

Despite my "mediocre" week (and that's being kind -- thank goodness I fared much better in George's NFL pick em contest for a change) these weekly pick em games are always a blast....now if only the Gamecocks could learn not to turn the ball over 7 times in a SINGLE game it would make my viewing much more enjoyable -- not to mention it might prevent Lou Holtz from having a coronary on the sidelines which he just about did in Charlottesville on Saturday.

Bring on week 3 -- time for some redemption (for a few of us, at least).

I loved this weekend's games especially the Canes draining the swamp of gators by 41-16. I have not seen the gators played as poorly at Katherine Harris' grandfather stadium (yes ...it is true) since 1980 when the Canes beat uf by 31-3 with a last minute FG ordered by Howard Schnellenberger. I think Miami's national title hopes would be decided in November when the Canes travel to play the Vols in Knoxville. Regarding Mr. Grossman's Heisman hopes, they sunk down on the turf at the swamp.

The two upsets of the week were BC and Uva's victories especially the cavs got lucky with the turnovers by the Gamecocks.

DC Bucky .... let put the Northwestern v. Duke game on the pick'em list for this week. It could be a very interesting game as it features the two worst college football teams in America. It was very painful in listening to the game on WGN radio especially NW was winning by the score of 10-2 in the first quarter against the Horned Frogs(i.e. final score was TCU 48 NW 24).

Overall, life is good because it is College Football Season!
