Well, my Spartans looked pretty sad in losing to Rutgers...(I've written this year off anyway, and am waiting until John L Smith's recruiting classes start to play). Clemson survived a scare against Wake Forest, a game that was supposed to be on TV down here until Frances had her Hurricane coverage 24 hours a day take that spot...
Oregon State SHOULD have beaten LSU, except for a couple of glaring defensive holes late in the game...
Miami still has not played, because of Frances...

well I think my alma mater Bowling Green played about as well as they could considering they were at #2 Oklahama. I'm no longer worried about the quaterback position, and if they play as well as they did against Oklahoma, they could run the table the rest of the season. As for my other team, Ohio State, well, they were Ohio State...strong defence, good special teams, conservative offence..and another win.

All things considered (hurricane at home, head coach absent) I think UCF at least played respectably. And I think they'll play respectably all year to a 2-9 record.

Well, it was against Akron, but 48-10 is a step in the right direction, especially with a 41-3 halftime score and lots of playing time in the second half for 2nd and 3rd stringers.
No one is saying we're back, but after last year's debacle, we'll take it.

...and although I am not a big fan of theirs, you have to give props to Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. They've only had a football team for 4 years, and they are in 1AA, but they still won at Hawaii while Hurricane Frances bore down on Boca Raton. They are trying to make the jump to 1A, and have a 40,000 seat on-campus stadium under construction...

Super weekend for me as Rutgers held off Michigan St 19-14 in front of a packed sellout crowd of 42600. Just a huge win for the Rutgers program. Not the prettiest of victory but after years of being pushed around physically the Rutgers players were the ones pushing around a Big 10 team no less. Atmosphere was great...new scoreboard, field turf, heavy tailgating, 85 degree temps, lots of buff guys running around without their shirts, and even a cameo by Tony Soprano himself James Gandolfini who roamed the sidelines of his alma mater. On a side note Galdofini's car was hit by a 72 year old drunk driver as he was coming back from a restaurant after the game.
Also it was a sight to behold the students jumping the railings and storming the field...not so much because Michigan St is a good team which they really arent but because the win signifies the start of the new era for Rutgers football.
Also I have to laugh at posters on this board (not in this thread) refer to the Big East as the Big Least...based on what Im not so sure. Yea Syracuse got beat up pretty bad as did Temple expectedly but it cant be that bad a conference when a team like Rutgers is taking down a Big 10 team just three years removed from the Rose Bowl.

I'll take it like a man:
Congrats on a big win for the Rutgers' program. Maybe you can answer a question for me: Why is there a billboard at the end of my street wishing South Miami-Dade County a Happy Holidays from the Rutgers football team?

The Gamecocks looked impressive during their decisive win at Vanderbilt on Saturday....I know, Vandy is hardly an SEC power, but after our road record in recent years, we'll take any victory we can get.
The REAL test will come this weekend when those Dawgs from Georgia invade Williams-Brice....I heard this morning that the ESPN Gameday crew has changed their travel plans from South Bend for the Michigan-ND game (due to the Irish being upset by BYU) and will be in Columbia this weekend instead....now all those 82,000 Cock fans will not only get to watch USC pull off the upset but with any luck will get to see Kirk Herbstreit up close and personal too. wink
GO COCKS!!

Miami Spartan...LOL...great question....the answer is that Greg Schiano has made Florida particularly south Florida Rutgers second recruiting target behind New Jersey. Schiano used to be the defensive coordinator for Miami and has been very aggressive in going after the Florida recruits with a pretty good amount of success for a school with little success on the playing field.
