Take away the VT logo in the middle, and I think the only place that couch should go is in a funeral home. Good God that's ugly!

Isn't this similar to what Auburn did this offseason?

I think that Maryland is still in a prolonged honeymoon with The Fridge, even though they're just off two 5-6 seasons. Memories of that 10-1 season are still fresh. However this year isn't looking better -- and the future is questionable -- if I recall correctly 2 or 3 of the top notch MD high school players turned down terp scholies and at least 2 went north to JoePa land.

So we have one non-vote from DCBucky indicating Ralphie might be getting close. I've got my money pinned on algroh getting the axe first. All the UVA fans I've spoken to want him gone so they can actually field a good team again.
From a VT standpoint, we used to love to hate George Welsh. Under him, UVA would at least be good enough to have the VT/UVA game be called a "rivalry". Now, it's just ... a beat down. :-)

I'd vote Amato, who should thank Philip Rivers he lasted this long.

My thoughts on algroh might need to be changed. Craig Littlepage (the AD at UVA) signed algroh a contract extension that takes him through 2010 with a 5% raise each year. The contract that was signed last year also has a clause in it that states algroh gets the remaining money left in his contract as long as the firing is not for a "just cause"; apparently in legal speak, "just cause" does not include wins & losses in the commonwealth of Virginia.
I'm switching my vote to Chuckie Tomatoe.

In other news, Virginia is now 1-4 on the season after their spanking by the Yellow Jackets. Ouch. It's a good thing there are not many couches on the porches of Charlottesville and the school isn't in the state to the west, otherwise the town might now be on fire after some impromptu rioting. ;-)

Instead of doing the obvious and gloating about the demise of Virginia Tech's football program, I'll direct my post in somehting related to the issue, but not what most would think.
Regarding Kirk Herbstreit using much of the 4th quarter to paint Va Tech's program as out of control ( as Hokie players were dancing down by 17 points and almost got into a brawl amongst their selves) and stating Beamer needs to clean house on the some of the elements he's brought to Blacksburg, I find these comments interesting.
Va Tech is to blame. However, ESPN and others have looked the other way the last 7 years or so as VT has fielded good to very good teams. Its interesting Kirk goes off on Va Tech for its players antics when it looks like the team will be 7-5 or 6-6 yhis year. Its all fine and well for VT to act this way as long as they were winning, but as soon as they quit winning its time to join in on the Hokie bashing.
Typical ESPN.

Why didn't Beamer lay down the law and go this route last night when his players got out of control?

It's time to start talking ACC bowl games! Here are the games:
12/27 - Florida State vs. UCLA in the Emerald [Nut] Bowl, 8pm ESPN HD
12/29 - Clemson vs. Kentucky in the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl, 1pm ESPN HD
12/29 - Purdue vs. Maryland in the Champs Sports Bowl, 8pm ESPN HD
12/30 - Navy vs. Boston College in the Meineke Car Care, 1pm ESPN HD
12/30 - Georgia vs. Virginia Tech in the Chick-fil-A, 8 pm ESPN HD
12/31 - Miami vs. Nevada in the MPC Computers Bowl, 7:30pm ESPN HD
1/1 - West Virginia vs. Georgia Tech in the Toyota Gator Bowl, 1pm CBS
1/2 - Louisville vs. Wake Forest in the FedEx Orange Bowl, 8pm FOX
8 teams made it this season, though I'm surprised Florida State and Miami both accepted their bowl bids. The three "Triangle Schools" are staying home again while working on coaching changes, and UVA, well ... they still need to figure out what to do with algroh.
What are your thoughts on the out come of these games? Are any of them bad matchups for the ACC teams?
Without doing too much research, my gut feeling is telling me a 5-3 bowl record is likely this season.

If I were to make predictions, which I despise doing......I would expect Boston College, Clemson, Virginia Tech, and Maryland to be favored in their games. But Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Florida State, and Miami will have tougher challenges. A 4-4 record would be more in-line with my expectations.
