Full Version: Texas fans aren't forgiving!

In these days since the bitch-slapping by Oklahoma, a lot of Texas fans (well, the ones not in denial) have now turned their gnashing teeth on Mack Brown and the rest of the lame-duck coaching staff. (No one can blame Chris Simms, anymore!) Here are a couple of links to the letters-to-the-sports-editor from today's and yesterday's editions of the Austin American-Statesman (one of the worst-designed papers in the country). If nothing else, it makes for comical reading. smile.gif

I just saw that Plummer broke his foot and is out at least 4 weeks. As a Bronco fan (with games against Minnesota, Baltimore and New England in the next 3 weeks), I'm devastated. As a Plummer fan, I thought maybe you might want to volunteer to nurse him back to health. :cool:

Damnit all to hell in a hen basket! Just when Jake got on a winning team and was having a good year. At least he'll be back this season. I'll be more than happy to be Jake's manservant during (and after) his recovery. smile.gif

A majority of the letters are anti-Brown. Good! They should be. I predicted (wrongly) in 2002 that Brown would finally be exposed as a fraud and lose his job. He didn't.

But one fact hasn't changed - he cannot win the Big One. Its shocking to me that he has managed to keep his job, but after losses to Ark and OU this year I wonder if THIS might be the year he gets the boot. His recruits are stellar; how they're coached once they get to Austin is subpar.

Not that I'm a Texas fan, but I think the Longhorn fans deserve better than what they're getting from Brown.

From what I'm reading about the Mack Brown situation, Texas will probably go the "new coordinators" route next year as he still has 2/3 of the fans still in his corner. Mack is still the master in recruiting, but losing the Big One is gonna hurt more every year. (OU is now selling VHS and DVDs of the "Four in a Row" show.) May depend on the rest of the season.

Four in a row hurts REAL bad! In the old days, losing to Arkansas and OU in the same season was almost unforgivable and the games were usually played on back-to-back Saturdays. It's weird how the conference foe has reversed since then.

There is a *LOT* of anti-Brown sentiment on campus these days. Today, I was eating at Texadelphia (cheesesteak place) and they already have a big poster up asking "Who will be the next football coach at Texas?". There are pens nearby for folks to scribble a name on the poster. Cracked me up. I added Rick Barnes to the list, and despite the fact that he's a basketball coach, I think he could prepare our players better for game day than Brown does.

The internet is not being kind to Brown either... FireMackBrown.com

Personally, I had no expectations that we would win the game Saturday. However, I did expect us to at least be somewhat competitive. I think that's the stinger: the point spread was too great.

On the upside, Texas Basketball just released its schedule, and there are 13 nationally televised games on it, including 'Zona, Duke, Wake Forest, and Big 12 powers, Mizzou, Kansas and Oklahoma (an OU game we might actually win!). Only 16 more days until Orange-White scrimmage!

That FireMackBrown.com link is hilarious! Wow, I go to all of the home games and still had no idea about those Top 25 stats. Does DeLoss live in a fog and not realize this crap? Texas football seems to be all about appearance and nothing about substance. It makes me sick that I have spent well over $2,000 these past four years on my season tickets (including an annual Foundation bribe, I mean "contribution of $250) and those crappy concessions for a team that gets nowhere but the shitty Cotton Bowl most years. Plus, we've got that buffoon Bob Cole doing announcements during the game. What an ass****. Well, this is it -- I'm not renewing my season ticket and I'm getting out of the mob, I mean, the Foundation. GO VOLS!

I'd like to have one of the "KeepMackBrown.Com" t-shirts advertised on FireMackBrown.Com. That "painful blend of Crimson, Maroon and Cardinal Red" is so tasteful!

I just noticed the song "Lose Again" (a parody of Eminem's "Lose Youself") is on the FireMackBrown.com website. It is hilarious!
"This year, you won't have Chris Simms to blame;
so, you'll know it's your whole team that's lame."

Gasp! Another Aggie on these threads after all of this time!

Anyway, you are right... The Ags really do suck this year. But remember that we are going to have to ride out the moron, R.C. Slocum's recruiting classes for a couple of years before Franchione can really establish anything positive.
