It's called Rites of Autumn. It's like a documentary on College Football's history. Lots of old footage and interviews. Definitely worth your time so check your ESPN listings.

Has anybody else seen it?

Sounds great show. Can't wait to see it. Is it on regular ESPN or ESPN Classics?

I've caught three or four of the "installments" so far and have been very impressed with the overall quality of the show....I'm even considering ordering the entire set (10 or 12 total installments I think) on DVD....I'm disappointed and surprised that ESPN has not advertised or marketed this show more -- it is basically a SportsCentury-type format focusing on the teams, players, coaches, memorable games/events/traditions surrounding college football -- hell, even Burt Reynolds as the narrator of the segments does a good job (heard but not seen)....I stumbled upon it by accident channel surfing on a Friday night a month or two ago and it is definitely worth watching.

It's on ESPN and ESPN2. The page I'm linking has the dates/times it is shown.

The episodes I watched last weekend were VERY interesting. One focused on the early developments of the game. How it was essentially a blood bath rugby style sport. Details it evolvement into what we see today.

Lots of interesting stories. Notre Dame. Black integration. Small schools who gained famed. Military Academies. College Football during war and the depression. Early Stadiums. How the average folk followed it before TV. First hero's.

I too am considering ordering it on DVD. 130 dollars is a bit much for me right now so I put it on my list to Santa .
