http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2537332With the suspension of starters QB Bomar and OL Quinn, OU looks to have gone from from a possible National Championship Caliber team to a 9-3 to 8-4 type team that will most likely go to Holiday or Cotton Bowl.
Strike the Sooners of the list.

gee, isn't being the QB at OU the least important position in sports?
They just need some one else to hand the ball off to Adrian Peterson now.

Well that is what Sooner fans might be hoping for in just handing the ball off to AP, but after OU's 2-3 start last year while breaking in a new QB, the prospects look bleak for a National Championship Run in Norman this year.

They tried that with Paul Thompson to begin last season. Bomar's development late in the year was the stepping stone that was to make OU a bona fide NC contender for '06.
Now it looks like Texas Tech is going to be the main foil for the Longhorns.

One has to wonder whether this one incident is sending shudders through collge football programs across the county, with many players and coaches taking deep breaths and hoping. We all know instinctively there are many players with arrangements similar to the one Rhett Bomer had with the car dealer.

Yer right Adam...about 8 more of them at OU to start with. The Athletic department coordinated this little "work program". Let's not forget their Basketball coach just left OU under a very dark cloud.
"Lack of Institutional Control"?

"Lack of respect for the program?"
I think that's what you meant to say. Bob Stoops has returned dignity and all that good stuff to the OU program. Bomar and Quinn clearly thought they were above that. This doesn't have to do with lack of instutitional control and has everything to do with two selfish kids with their heads screwed on wrong.

No, I REALLY meant lack of institutional control. See your basketball and football programs for my point of reference.
I also still think the Adrian Peterson "car deal" was swept under the rug by the school's internal "investigation" that also found no wrong-doing with players working for the same car dealeship back in April. Bomar and Quinn were thrown under the bus for a reason.
If the NCAA investigates and finds nothing, I will consider throwing a little respect OU's way, but not right now.
Smoke...Fire.
Stoops is just padding his [cheating] resume for an SEC gig.

PS. Is it not interesting that Adrian Peterson's father was recently released from a Texas prison and is now employed by a car dealership in Edmond, OK owned by Jackie Cooper?. The same Jackie Cooper involved in past NCAA investigations.

Yeah-- I read an article earlier this week about the guy who posted those rumors -- and how he was lambasted by everyone on the board. Now that the rumors are true -- he's a hero.

I love how Aggies jumped all over this guy, who was giving them 'inside' information.
Even when they found out it was OU, and not eATMe they still were upset....!

You're doing FINE OKLAHOMA!! I just heard that on the internet and had to say it. OU Football will be alright despite the controversy. This sorta thing goes on every where in college but it was just brought to light and it dealt with a major program.
Troy Smith was in a similiar situation and Maurice Clarett at Ohio State and there have been many other schools too.
OU WILL BE A CONTENDER IN THE BIG 12. WATCH OUT TEXAS!!

There was an article in the paper about Bomar and playing Texas this season. I hope Texas kicks SHSU's ass..or at least Bomar's haha..
