Let's see how returning champ MBMslJock does with this week's line-up!
The rules:
1. Pick the winner in EACH game.
2. Predict how many points the team you pick to win the designated Game of the Week will win by. This will be used for tiebreak purposes. This week it is the N.C. State at Ohio State game.
3. The first pick is needed by the kickoff of the first game -- noon eastern time on Saturday.
4. Picks MUST be submitted either via the Private Message function or E-mail. My email address is dcbucky2000@hotmail.com -- please do not post your picks here. Include your Outsports nickname with your picks.
This week's games:
1. Virginia @ Western Michigan – we’ll start with this week’s Big MAC Attack. Northern Illinois did in Maryland, Bowling Green beat Purdue. Is it the Bronco’s turn? UVA will once again be minus their starting QB, and must travel to Kalamazoo.
2. Arkansas @ Texas -- renewal of the great old Southwestern Conference rivalry. A win by QB Matt Jones and the Hogs shows they might contend with LSU in the SEC West.
3. Penn State @ Nebraska – The Nittany Lions stunk up their own house last weekend, and now have to go on the road to play the resurgent Huskers. Nebraska is bent on revenge from last year’s whipping.
Last season: Penn State 40 – Nebraska 7.
4. Purdue @ Wake Forest – you asked for Wake, you got 'em. The Deacons are the new darlings of the ACC (at #20, their highest ranking since 1979), while the Boilermakers, embarrassed at home by BGSU, have to shape up before their Big Ten season begins.
5. Notre Dame @ Michigan – Bubble-butted John Navarre and the Wolverines finally get a good test. The Irish have to be feeling good after their comeback win against Washington State.
Last season: Notre Dame 25 - Michigan 23.
6. Hawaii @ Southern California -- the Trojans face the best QB yet this season, Hawaii's Timmy Chang and his high-flying air attack.
7. Georgia Tech @ Florida State – Tech got a quality win last week – does it provide enough momentum to beat the 'Noles?
Last season: Florida State 21 - Georgia Tech 13.
8. Fresno State @ Oklahoma – The Sooners are coming off a tough-fought win in Tuscaloosa, while the Bulldogs won at Oregon State on Saturday (helped by 5 Beaver ITs).
9. South Carolina @ Georgia – The Cocks dominated UVA last week on both sides of the ball -- how will they do in real, SEC, football?
Last season: Georgia 13 – South Carolina 7
10. North Carolina State @ Ohio State - GAME OF THE WEEK. This is one of the most highly-anticipated match-ups of the season, tarnished a bit by the wake-up calls last week (although NC State hit the snooze button and overslept). Can Heisman hopeful Phillip Rivers lead the Wolfpack to an upset?
Cut-and-paste:
1. Virginia @ Western Michigan
2. Arkansas @ Texas
3. Penn State @ Nebraska
4. Purdue @ Wake Forest
5. Notre Dame @ Michigan
6. Hawaii @ Southern California
7. Georgia Tech @ Florida State
8. Fresno State @ Oklahoma
9. South Carolina @ Georgia
10. North Carolina State @ Ohio State. GAME OF THE WEEK: by how many points will the victor win?

(to quote one of my least favorite coaches) Dadgummit!
I knew that there would be some upsets, so I made some craaaazy picks. NCState, you almost did me proud (no offense to OSU - great game!), but WTF, ND?
And...congrats to F$U.

Damn...forgot to send in my picks.
David, man, the Hogs look like they are for real. What a game against Texas. Congratulations.
Finally, my Aubs found the end zone and found it quite a few times.
Bucky,

GAME OF THE WEEK: by how many points will the victor win? 17
Sigh – why do I have a feeling I’m sticking my neck out too far?
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but didn't Nebraska, Michigan, Southern California, Florida State and Oklahoma all win? Wouldn't that make me 5-5?
Yes, I did stick my neck out, and I don't mind being in last place, but I will NOT let it be mistakenly reported that I was sub-.500!
Congrats Cattledog, and did I really see CrocJamie congratulate the Seminoles?

Bucky, :( I know your pain
Thanks Aubie -- I finally emerged from my funk on Sunday a.m. (and avoided SportsCenter and reading any articles about the game) -- never have I seen such an inept team as my Badgers. Just awful. My red Wisconsin shirts are in exile in the bottom drawer until they win again. (thank god the Pack won)

BikeJocks:

Yep, sorry -- actually maybe my funk continued and affected my highlighter this a.m. -- correction made.
btw -- there will probably be no MAC game on the contest this week, unless you guys think BGSU has a chance at Ohio State or Marshall at Kansas State.
Tentatively we have a great lineup in:
Tennessee @ Florida
Georgia @ LSU
Michigan @ Oregon
Texas A&M @ Virginia Tech
Colorado @ Florida State
Miami @ Boston College
Arizona State @ Iowa
UCLA @ Oklahoma
Texas Tech @ NC State
and then I need a tenth -- one of those two MAC games or Michigan State @ Notre Dame or West Virginia @ Maryland.
I'll post the contest tomorrow -- since the first game -- A&M @ VaTech is on Thursday.

Thanks guys! What made it sweeter was that my Arkansas pick over t.u. put me over the top! Remember that Texas is always overrated!

Congratulations Cattledog. But the Buckeyes almost ruined it for ya. As for BGSU vs. OSU this weekend, don't write off BGSU just yet. They're probably watching the San Diego State films right now !!
