Got back from the parade (I am aware of the irony that I was in SF, with A's cap, while the Giants were playing in Oakland but I was at Saturday's game) and picked up my car at BART. When I turned on the radio, A's were up 6-0. By the time I got to the gas station it was 9-0. During the time it took to fill up my little Toyota it became 11-0. By the end of a belated lunch it was 16-0. By the 5th inning the A's were exhausted from running around the bases and didn't score again.
A's set record for most lopsided shutout win. Giants set record for most lopsided shutout loss. A's 24 hits were team's most in 50 years. Their 8 doubles tied a team record as did 8 players with 2 or more hits. The Giants sole hit was a broken bat blooper. Today's SF Chronicle ran a stat comparison of the 3 game series

They also had photos of the two dugouts. The Giants were so downcast they made a funeral look like the Pride Parade by comparison while Rich Harden and the A's just looked ... gay.

Sheesh, after the Giants' 5 errors on Saturday Alou was wondering how things could get worse. 16 runs and 24 hits to one hit is how. But I did like his comment about the errors, when asked if it was because of the sun Alou said the same sun has been here for a billion years (actually around 5 billion) so unless they changed suns on Saturday you can't blame the sun for the errors.

Maybe you should read the NBA threads now and then.

Hey MdB, I was also at the parade sporting my A's cap and Green&Gold beads. I wanted to watch the game so badly that I faked illness to return home to catch the game and was treated to a gem. (sorry John)
The only thing that could've made it better was Harden tossing a no -hitter. Maybe that's what it would take for ESPN to give this team some attention. I'm tired of hearing about Barry Bonds and the Yankees.

Someone on Baseball Tonight once called us a AAA team, well this group of AAA players are finally coming together. Our SP has the best ERA (.298) in the month of June and also have won 8 of the past 9 series.

Sorry, not my idea of "sport" at all!

The A's and Harden came about as close to a no-hitter as you can. The only SF hit was a broken bat flare. I think Harden is going to throw a no-no, maybe more than one. The kid has amazing stuff and he's what, 23? I LOVE that A's commercial where he gets "busted" by a traffic cop for throwing 100 mph!

I just love Harden. He makes me feel all...tingly. Is that so wrong?
