Sleek Dodger slugger Shawn Green hit four homers off 3 Milwaukee pitchers today, and set a ML record with 19 total bases.

Green's feat

And now, back to Topic A!

Until this past Sunday, Green (and those Dumbo-like ears of his) had been in a bit of a slump--I guess that's over now.

There's Already another thread on this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Joe in Philly
But there are no replies to that, so I guess this is the official thread and the other one can be locked.

Nothing's impossible any more where homers are concerned. Two guys have hit 4 homers in a game just this year. Where it used to be rare to get 50 homers in a season, now it's almost commonplace. Not to mention how in just a few years the season HR record went from 61 to 73. It's almost a joke.

Exactly what I was thinking, Joe, on both points (repetitious threads, HR's).

When I first heard that Green hit 4 HR's just weeks after Cameron did the same, I thought "Hmmm, juicy balls."

But then I focused on the baseball stats again. The season is only 1/4 over! Does this mean that 8 players are going to hit 4 dingers in a single game this year? Power hitting stats are becoming absolutely meaningless these days.

I'd prefer to see a .400 hitter step-up anyday. I love to see a guy RUNNING the bases, not jogging.

Shawn Greeen...he's family, right?

Shawn Green, he of the dumbo ears and big feet, has a pretty swing and has hit for power throughout his career as a Blue Jay and Dodger.

That said, I don't think there's any way he should be hitting four home runs in a game. I blame the pitching, not the balls.

I'm still happy for him, though. I was a big Shawn Green fan when he was a Jay. Shawn Green, Carlos Delgado and Alex Gonzalez did a "three tenors" poster advertising Milk, back in the days...
