It pleases me to no end to report the Wazzu Cougars who destroyed UCLA today 48-27, get to turn around and head back to the Rose Bowl in January. Jason Guesser played on basically one leg, and played arguably the best game of his career today. Even one of the boradcasters called his performance today "legendary". Job well done Cougars!!!

It would be a great Rose Bowl if Iowa played Washington St. Can someone please explain to me why Iowa would not be the choice to go to the Rose Bowl??? If they are going to a BCS game anyway, why not keep the PAC10 - Big10 tradition?? Am I just missing something?? Someone please help me understand. Thanks.

Long time lurker from Norman here...first time poster.
J-dog: I think it comes down to $$. The Orange Bowl lost one of its automatic bid (Miami) to the Fiesta Bowl, so they got the first at large pick. They think Iowa will bring in more revenue, so the Rose Bowl was forced to pick up Oklahoma (automatic bid).
I must admit...I don't know much about WSU. I do know they have a very good QB and will probably try to do what Texas A&M and Oklahoma State did -- scorch OU's secondary. Can anyone give me the scoop, especially about WSU's defense?
More importantly, I've never been to LA and I'd appreciate any recommendations on where to spend New Year's Eve!

Oklahoma going to the Rose Bowl is a dream come true for Sooner fans...what a once in a lifetime opportunity to play at Pasadena. We're a year late, but better late than never!
I'm curious though why the Orange Bowl committee believes Iowa will generate more revenue than a pairing involving Oklahoma? I've never personally attended an Orange Bowl, but the impression I always got was that OU fans turned out in droves. And besides, the Iowa fans all want to go to the Rose Bowl because that's their conference tradition (sorta like the Big 8/Big 12's tradition has always been a trip to the Orange Bowl). Doesn't that suggest Iowa fans won't be as enthusiastic to go to Miami as they would be to go to Pasadena, hence less revenue?

As a former Okie, it's cool that we'll have some Boomer Sooners in LA.
But I'm in the mood for Oranges now.

Granted I am glad to see OU go to a BCS game, but I think that the BCS should have kept the BIG 10 PAC 10 tradition for the Rose Bowl, but the BCS is the most screwed up thing I have ever seen in my life. oh well, I guess i will root for OU sience they are from the Big 12

Amazing how the Orange Bowl made out like a bandit and screwed over BOTH the Rose and Sugar Bowls.
#3 should be playing #4. That means Georgia should be playing USC, in the Sugar. Or UGA and Iowa (both teams only have 1 loss).
Some effort should have been made to force Oklahoma against FSU, as both teams fell off big time, and had no place sullying the potential big-time matchups.
And no, I'm not some dreamy sentimentalist lamenting the theft of Iowa that busted the Rose Bowl's tradition of B-10 vs Pac-10.
But now we get 4-loss FSU vs #3 Georgia (Take the Dawgs minus 12)? Yuck!
Worse, the Orange seems to be poking a stick into the collective eye of Rose Bowl traditionalists. A team that did NOT win its conference (USC) will play the lesser half of the Big-10's co-champs in the UNOFFICIAL Rose Bowl...which will be played in Miami. That's f**ked up.
