Now that the Lakers have a new head coach (same as the old head coach) everyone wants a new head coach:

Timberwolves hired Dwane Casey, currently an assistant with the Sonics.

Blazers hired Mark Iavaroni, currently an assistant with the Suns.

Could the Knicks be next???

Blazers deny it, and Marc Iavaroni says he hasn't been offered the job but he is interested. Rumor has it that the Blazers are waiting to see if Nate McMillan remains with the Sonics (his deal expires on June 30th). If they do hire Iavaroni he'd be the second Blazers coach who was on the 1982-83 champion 76ers (after, of course, Mo Cheeks).

If Mac10 goes to the Blazers, I will be betrayed and dumbfounded, he is Mr. Sonic

Milwaukee just gave Terry Porter the boot, and are supposedly courting Flip Saunders and/or Nate McMillan.

Portland fans were wondering when we'd get a new coach. Team officials had said that when a coach is named we'd understand the reason for the delay. Top prospects appeared to be Marc Iavaroni and Nate McMillan, but the "word" was that the person in mind had Portland ties and head coaching experience, and neither of those two have Portland ties. Eric Mussleman fit the categories, but no reason to delay in hiring him. Then we hear Terry Porter is now available.....man, I've not seen such excitement on Portland discussion boards since the Blazers took the Mavs to 7 games in 2003.
Welcome to Porterland, Oregon, as we used to say. Welcome home, Terry.

Mac10 in Milwaukee, no F*kn way. Mac10 and Ray Allen stay in Seattle.
Joe in Philly
Kind of a weaselly move by the Bucks. They previously announced that Porter would return. Now, after all these weeks they changed their minds? At least the Sixers didn't wait that long to fire Jim O'Brien.

Rex Chapman to become T-Wolves GM.

Not only were the Bucks Weasely, philly. It really throws a monkey wrench into the Portland situation. They had by all accounts narrowed down their coaching search to 2 candidates who had been interviewed & researched extensively. Terry Porter had been mentioned as an early option but Milwaukee explicitly said they were keeping him. So he was not interviewed. Now they have a candidate who would be a very popular choice. Do they stall the other two guys to go through the process with Porter? Or do they not interview him due to time constraints even though he has clearly expressed interest in the job and his hiring would be a hugely popular decision and probably pretty good basketball-wise?
