Assuming Minnesota finishes off Denver, either tonight or later in the week, it will be:

Minnesota (1) vs. Sacramento (4)

Spurs (3) vs. Lakers (2)
Spurs will have home court advantage in the series though as they had a better regular season record.

I pick both Minnesota and the Spurs to win in 6. Games begin Sunday.

Stinger, is this the first time that's been done - I'm a huge anti-Laker, but if they finished nbr 2, they should get the home court advantage.

Is it just me, or is anyone else miffed that it should take 2-1/2 WEEKS per playoff series ?? No reason for a team to play Sunday, then not till Wednesday in the same city.

Makes me just want to watch the Finals and that's it.
stinger85
I think they changed the home court advantage rule a few years ago. The top 2 seeds are the division winners, but the home court advantage is based on best record. I hate the extended time frame for the series as well. Last year I think if a team played game 1 on Sunday, than game 4 would be the following Saturday or Sunday. This year it's game 3 the following Sunday. Way too much time. I think it should be 1 night off when playing in the same city, 2 nights off when changing cities.

I was happy to see the Spurs win game 1. I will feel a lot better if they win again on Wednesday to take a 2-0 lead back to L.A.

Tony Parker was awesome in Game 2. Did you see that crossover move against Devean George? It makes me feel a lot better seeing the Spurs take a 2-0 lead into the Staples Center.

Parker is absolutely scorching the Lakers guards, making them look very, very old. He's the fastest guy in this series and is palying terrific basketball. I know that to the media and superficial hoops fans the Spurs aren't "sexy", but I love this team. A great big man who also happens to be a good person in Tim Duncan surrounded by a bunch of seemingly unselfish role players. What a contrast to the on-the-edge-of-combusting Lakers.

Guess it's a good thing we didn't hand them the championship trophy back in October as many people thought we should. It'll be great to see Payton and Malone's plan to piggyback their way to a title with Shaq and Kobe backfire worse than a 1972 Ford Pinto.

C.Barkley when asked last night can Malone and Payton carry the Lakers out of this 0-2 hole: "Only if they invent a time machine to make them younger"

This is really the Finals. At least this year we don't have to stop every two minutes and say what a great person the Admiral is/was what he does for the community, etc, etc, just play the freakin games.

Better that than have to listen to how amazing Kobe has been in being able to handle going back and forth to Colorado for his court case and play so well as if he's some kind of hero. Or how Malone and Payton selflessly played for less money just to win a title. rolleyes.gif

Robinson is one of the all time good guys as well as an all time great player, so I have no problem with him finally getting his due. Sure he'd won a title before last eyar, but many people wrongly attached an asterisk to that due to the shortened season.

Too much focus and publicity is given to punks and troublemakers like Iverson and Rodman that we should pay more tributes to guys like Robinson (or Garnett or Duncan or Peja).

Here, here GVF!! SPURS RULE!!!

Minnesota could have been done last night. They had to rally at home by outscoring the Kings 14-2 in the final 4 minutes to pull out a 5 point win. If they'd lost that they would have been down 0-2 with the series going back to Sacramento. Would have most likely been buh-bye Wolves.

Spurs are in LA today trying to win #18 straight and go up 3-0 in the series. Go Spurs!!!

Here comes the Media again - trying to play with us. Ala Brett Favre part Two.

Let me guess: Malone is the ONLY person who has lost a parent since last August and has to live through a Mother's Day. Oh wait, the only millionaire maybe. At least they didn't say the Angels were looking down to help the Lakers win, or did I miss that while watching the Indians/Orioles 10-9 worst baseball I've ever seen game. oh well

Ok guys I am not just logging on cuz The LAKERS won 2day! GVF I got invited to the Vikings-Eagles MNF game in Sept but my friend insists I wear no Randy Moss gear! Its free so I'm going! My voce wll belouderthan any jersey anyways! LOL

Both the Lakers and the Nets have a huge barrier to overcome. I think basketball, being such a physically taxing game, is best played by trying like crazy to take a big lead, cooling off but playing defense for most of the game - just enough to stay close - then making the big push right at the end; usually making use of a really good unstoppable closer like a Shaq, Iverson or the closer supreme, MJ. This pattern seems to work for series as well as individual games. A comeback might suit the networks but not the NBA.
stinger85
The Spurs/Lakers game was pretty rough yesterday. I wonder if they will let the agressive styly of defense play. I think the Lakers aggression surprised the Spurs a bit. Neither team has put out a great effort in the same game against each other. Hopefully we'll get a game in this series where both teams are playing top notch ball.

Why no Eastern Conference thread ? Poor Pacers, they had temper tantrums tonight. It's way past time for Reggie to retire - he thought he'd go over and talk to the refs after his own teammate is the one that did the flagrant fouling lol.

Here's hoping for a Minnesota/Miami Finals !

Why not !

Two stories from Lakerland that could happen only in Los Angeles:

--Laker Luke Walton has a fan. None other than Brittany Spears told "Access Hollywood" she has a crush on him ( do sluttish celebrities get crushes?) Upon learning of this, he responded that he's had a crush on her for a long time & that he was going to try to get a ticket to a game--"I'd sit her as close to the court as I could get a ticket."

--Even celebrities are having a hard time getting tickets for games at Staples Center. David Arquette reportedly paid a scalper $100 (I think it would have to been more than that...) for a ticket only to discover he had been taken. "The ticket was already scanned and I couldn't get in," he told the ubiquitous "Access Hollywood."

Here's hoping the Spurs bounce back tonight at home. Kobe can't repeat that performance again. I still say Spurs in 6...just like last year!!

lake show!

good game spurs, good game!

Well it was a tough game! My heart almost colapsed! LAKERS had it won and then choked! Duncan's shot was amazing! I think the SPURS used to many time-outs to give the LAKERS a chance! Thank You Derick Fisher for hitting that shot! I am breathing right now!
osufan
That was the longest .4 of a second I've ever seen eek!
stinger85
The Spurs needed to win that game. It was their type of a game, fairly low scoring, in it at the end, at home, low output by Shaq and Kobe. The Spurs have not been shooting the ball very well while the Lakers have been red hot. Hopefully the Spurs can hit more shots in L.A. and the Lakers relax a bit after taking 3 straight.

Last night was disappointing...it almost hurts as much as the Nathan Poole TD reception. frown

LAKERS into the Conference Finals! pacerspride good luck to you! I think our teams may meet in the finals! I guess an all out "Dis War" will develop against us again if it happens! Until that "GOOD LUCK" and remember I LOVE YOU!!!!

Minnesota advances to Western Conference Finals vs. the Lakers.

Kevin Garnett plays practically the entire game, scores 32 points, 21 boards, 5 blocks and 4 steals. Masterful, gustsy performance.

Go T-Wolves!!!
