To identify one positive, heartwarming aspect to the horrific shootings in the DC area, apparently the 13 year old boy who was shot Monday told his doctors and nurses that he was a big fan of Tracy McGrady....upon hearing this, McGrady sent him a video containing a personal get-well message along with an autographed jersey.
McGrady's heart is certainly in the right place as he told the local newspaper, "The least I can do is send a message and sign a jersey. It's a small thing to me, but in his eyes, it's big.....It was real touching to me that of all the guys in this league -- Shaq, Kobe, Michael Jordan -- he called my name. Wow!"....The Magic organization said they'd like to fly the boy to a game when he's healthy.
This story brought tears to my eyes....in today's cynical sports world where seemingly all we hear about are dissatisfied millionaire athletes, it's great to see a superstar like McGrady act like a TRUE HERO with his words and actions....I'm sure it made the boy's day, which is positive news in itself.
McGrady send special get-well wish to D.C.-area boy
