Isn't exhibition over and the regular season underway? I thought all the games matter.

Well, in theory they do, but the Lakers just treat the regular season as a way to fine-tune the team for the playoffs. Everyone had a cow last year when they didn't finish first in the West--Ohmygawd! They don't have home court advantage!!!--and we all saw how that worked out.

That said, the Lakers do look awful and it's not really encouraging to see how the role players are doing. Shaq will be back in about 2 weeks, so I suspect that once he's in game shape, normal service will be resumed. Frankly, I find the NBA regular so boring most of the time that this bump in the road for the Lakers is enough to keep me vaguely interested until spring training for baseball starts in February.

Well put Jim Allen! LAKERS will make the play-offs and probrably win a 4th straight title! Have you Cav's ever even competed for a weak Eastern Conference Title? We shall see who laughs last!

It seems that the Lakers have one game a season in which they get their hats handed to them. Every team goes through it, but it's newsworthy when it happens to the Lakers. Of course, their attitude--the regular season is mere preamble to the playoffs & seeming to take no joy in the game itself--makes the Lakers (like the Yankees in baseball) an amazingly polarizing team across the country.
