Alonzo Mourning has serious kidney problems and it appears that he will miss the entire coming season--and possible retire from the game--due to health concerns. A class act all the way.

Sad news indeed! Alonzo is a real class guy! I was actually pissed when LAKERS didn't pick him up in the free agent draft! I thought he was a better center for the franchise than Shaq, Obviously I was wrong, but imagine the "Fast Break" opportunities he would have created!

I work in health care, and have some experience with kidney disease - the really sad part is, it isn't curable. Once kidneys start to fail they continue failing until they are no longer useful. Then the only options are dialysis (and no one could play pro sports on dialysis) or a kidney transplant.
