Perhaps the Sox should call in Tommy Brady from the stands and maybe he can rally them for a 21-10 victory! Sorry Canmark.

Gotta love seeing Pedro with a 189.00 era. Let me restate that: one-hundred and eighty nine earned run average! If I were Pedro, or any Sox fan for that matter, he'd be lucky to get that down to a 4.0 or so ERA by the time he breaks down, which should be, and always happens around the middle of July.
GO YANKS!!!!!!!!! (and yes I know what happened today in Baltimore, thank you very little!)
All you Sox haters, be gone! Away with you! How dare you grab a Red Sox thread and spew such filthy venom about my team!
Pedro did look tentative, insecure instead of intimidating, so I am already a little worried without any help from you all Sox haters.
And what incompetence from the umpire crew! In only one play, they made three mistakes: a missed fly ball called out, a double-play at second that was let go, an ejection that was none of an umpire's business --and two of those calls were in our favor, so it's not sour grapes that I say this. It's...something else.

Tom, maybe this will make you feel better: Roger Clemens has a 16.62 ERA.

Yanksin5, is there a new formula for determining ERA? Because I'm getting a much lower number, and the Sox's official site is posting an ERA of 21.00 -- OK, you kinda prefer an ERA about 17 less than that, but believe it or not, I'm not worried.
All the Chicken Little's are saying, "Trade Pedro! Trade Pedro! At least get somthing for him!" Don't they realize that the rest of baseball would be awfully wary of trading for Pedro right now? If other organizations see Pedro as damaged goods, the Sox ain't gettin' much for the guy. On the flip side, if his shoulder holds up and he figures out his new mechanics (to adjust to the new physique), you still have one of the best pitchers in baseball.
Pedro keeps saying that his shoulder feels fine, better than it has in years. There are two things that make for a great pitcher, a great arm and a great mind. Pedro was always one of the best pitchers mentally; that hasn't changed. And if he says his arm feels fine, then he's got what it takes to dominate on the mound again. I think he'll figure things out. Until then, I wish the "Chicken Little" Red Sox fans would take a Xanax or something.

Sorry, Rudy, I am man enough to admit it when I'm wrong. Just so you know, I got that stat from the ESPN box score. They erred by crediting Pedro for only 0.3 innings, instead of 3.0 innings; they goofed on their calculation. So, you are right, but aside from that, I stand by all my other statements! GO YANKS!

What's up with this that I read in today's sports section?
"That's uncalled for... I don't understand the mentality of a player being in another player's locker room. If I was Shannon Stewart, I've got to think of taking a pop at him or something.'' — Toronto manager Buck Martinez on Red Sox pitcher Pedro Martinez, who hit Stewart with a pitch on Monday and then visited the Blue Jays locker room during a rain delay at Fenway Park on Wednesday night.
Apparently, Pedro's got some brass ones.

Is Buck Martinez crazy or is he an attention freak? There seems to be a clear explanation: Pedro was escorted by security guards through the visiting team's clubhouse. It was possibly a bad thing for the guards to do, but it wasn't Pedro's fault.
Open-door policy irks Martinez

The Red Sox had a "Meet & Greet" with the fans on Wednesday night. From the entry gate where Pedro was, he would have had to go all the way around the concourse to get back to the Sox's clubhouse in time for the start of the game. Instead, he cut through the visitor clubhouse. Even in an empty stadium, going around would take an estimated 12 minutes longer. In a packed concourse, with fans swarming around all the players for the Meet & Greet, it would have taken forever.
The AP story is quite different from what I've heard on local radio (no surprise). The Boston slant on this story is that Pedro entered the Toronto clubhouse, quickly explained why he was there, and stopped for a bit to chat with some of the Jays he's friendly with -- in the immortal words of Linda Richman, "No big whoop."

I hadm't heard of this issue myself, but read some articles on the Internet. It seems that Buck is Old School and believes that players should not be friendly with opposing teams' players, as it takes away any competitive advantage. Plus, on the opening game, Delgado (twice), Stewart and Bush were all HBP-ed by Boston pitchers

How unusual for Pedro to hit a batter. I mean with his pin-point accuracy and all. [insert incredibly sarcastic face icon here]
